I had to stop listening about halfway through. Way too many names and characters. Lost track...
so are you suppose to stay to yourself and NEVER talk with anyone or make any friends? you'll never be able to report because the one you're reporting on might be the guy you said hey to 3 years before lol
28:20 "He had a plan, and I'm not sure what it was, but I can assure you, he thought it was absolutely brilliant. It wasn't; he was being tracked." Now, I'm not one to support anything this lunatic did, but to say he thought he was brilliant because he had a plan and that he wasn't because he was tracked is pointless butt-hurt cop talk. Actually, it WAS brilliant, as Susan has still never been found, nor has any evidence related to his alleged elimination of her. #HateToSayThisBut
I'm sorry, but Flexeril is just not that strong of a drug. Now, if he had Soma, your theory may make more sense, but certainly not Flexeril. I have zero tolerance, but could easy pop 10 of the strongest Flexeril and still absolutely function at 100%. I still agree that he did give her something in the "cream cheese pancake" -- but not Flexeril. Whatever he gave her, he gave her all he had, and there was nothing left to find.
The concept of a "wolf pack" where Leaders eat first is a fallacy. It's based on Dr. David Mech's wolf studies, which the scientist himself ddebunked, having studied a group of captive wolves, cherry-picked and hand selected from different wild families, which is not an accurate portrayal of a wolf pack. In an actual Wolf pack, the "Leaders" are no more than parents, and they DON'T eat first; they provide food for the young first. Humanity needs to move on from this canid behavior fallacy.
This is one of the most fascinating true crime stories told in an incredibly compelling way. The production quality is also top-notch. I've heard multiple podcasts on the Powell case, but nothing near this in-depth. I had no idea how absolutely insane Josh's father was. This is far and away one of the most twisted, depressing stories ever, and it's relayed brilliantly. I'm hooked!!! RIP Susan. I would celebrate if this turned out to be a Gone Girl situation & Susan was behind the whole thing. 😪
This podcast is excellent. I've heard all about Susan Cox's story (I refuse to acknowledge the surname Powell; the Powell men are disturbing at least and dangerous/murderous at worst). It's tragic to hear the depths of their journals. This poor woman - I fear he wound her up in the tree branch wrap from Lowe's, then torched her wrapped body. I'm so terribly sad for the final days of this fearless, hopeful, thoughtful young woman's life. He likely poisoned her causing her nausea. Just tragic.
Blood is absolutely on the hands of the 911 dispatcher, the fire department, the police. Elizabeth made a mistake of allowing the kids to run ahead, but she called 911 and wasn't taken seriously. I hope the dispatcher, police and fire department were all held accountable -- their lack of concern caused precious moments to be lost. Those little boys could have survived if they'd simply listened to Elizabeth when she called 911.
the 911 call is one of the most frustrating things I've ever listened to 🤬
Wow, the recordings of this twisted mind are jaw dropping. To be able to hear his innermost thoughts on relationships and life in general is so revealing. As creepy as he is, I want to HEAR A LOT MORE of what he said about things. This seems like a treasure trove of information about how this NPD mind works and sees the world. Love the format of this pod. Most of these types of series spend 10 minutes per episode retelling us what they just said in the previous episode. More please. Brilliant!

One of the worst parts of this has to be how Steve's music isn't satire. 😔
Takes a fair bit to shake me in a podcast, but that accidental recorded conversation was extremely uncomfortable. 🤮
This is so, so well done.
I sure hope that Susan, Sharrie and Joyce are found before I pass on, it would be great but.....

I'm so glad you can congratulate yourself on being ethical. I think this guy is on his high horse. He does in depth journalism but he sucks at telling a story.
Ellis is an excellent investigator because he keeps an open mind and looks at all angles without wasting too much time in one direction. Josh murdered his wife. Honestly, I feel that Josh was a lot like his father. I feel Josh was not interested in traditional sex with adult women. I feel that he had pedophilia tendencies. I feel he was too lazy to pursue sexual gratification outside of his family. I feel he was molesting his sons. I strongly feel Josh was hiding sexual obsessions long before Susan came into the picture. Susan was too dedicated to her marriage through her faith. However, I can believe that she would enjoy the attention of male coworkers and enjoy flirting. She was neglected emotionally and physically at home. Susan was too dedicated to her children to have abandoned them.
My thought is maybe he didn’t end up putting her body in a mine because it was too difficult to get her body in one. Maybe he feared for his own safety, since he was such a narcissist. Josh sounded like somebody who thought he knew everything but when acting on it, things don’t work out as well as he envisioned. If he strained his shoulder, trying to drag her to a mine, he probably didn’t anticipate that thought beforehand. Maybe he ended up burying her somewhere with the shovel that was in the van. or ended up disposing of her body in a different way .
I believe that Josh killed Susan in her home near or on the couch. He cleaned it up and left the fans on to dry while he took the body of Susan and the two boys on a so called camping trip where he hid her body in the desert. I believe there was a shred of truth when the boy,Charlie, told police of his Mom going camping with them. She may have looked asleep to him but in reality she was dead. The whole story of Josh going camping with his two very young boys after midnight, spur of the moment, without a plan or notice was absolutely ludicrous. I believe he used blunt force trama to kill her while she slept. It’s tragic that he wasn’t caught before he ended up killing his sons. I hope her body is found. This case has really gripped me.
