Most athletes I believe choose a team and hope it is for all 4 - 5 years of college, however I am working with many gymnasts that are in the Portal or changing their verbal commitment. The NCAA is making it easier on the athlete to switch teams, but this is not always ideal. It is important to think through the pros and cons. For some it is certainly a change that needs to happen and it is becoming more common.
