CFP Quarterfinals Preview

CFP Quarterfinals Preview

2025-12-2901:53:39

Last show of the year! We got the whole gang - Roddy, Wayne, Felder, and Hartzell - together to break down these CFP quarterfinal games (which start on Wednesday night, by the way). After about 15 minutes of coach talk dedicated to the latest Michigan Man (TM) and what to expect in Ann Arbor, the guys jump into the quartet of CFP games that await us. Does Roddy still think Miami is the most dangerous team in the playoff? Which quarterback in Miami/OSU are we more concerned about staying upright and why should Buckeyes fans be worried about the Cotton Bowl? Can Oregon's defense get it together against Texas Tech in the Orange? Or did they just look that bad on defense because they didn't respect JMU last week? Hartzell has a hot take on the Rose Bowl that everyone else vehemently disagrees with. Felder is riding with Alabama again after calling the upset last week against Oklahoma. And finally, does anyone have faith that Ole Miss can shock the Dawgs in New Orleans? There's a consensus on this game that probably won't surprise you. Is 5'8" almost 5'10" ... and does it really matter? Last CSN of 2025 coming in hot, let's make it count!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
CFP Recap with Wayne Cook

CFP Recap with Wayne Cook

2025-12-2201:30:17

A look back at the first four CFP games (Bama erasing a 17-0 deficit in Norman, Miami's defense getting after A&M, Oregon and Ole Miss taking care of business) and also a peek at what's coming ahead in the next round.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
On the final Gauer Hour of 2025, Rob and Megan recap a fairly quiet week across the sport, but find reasons for optimism in Durham. Then they'll preview the final weekend before the sport shuts down for Christmas week - it feels like we'll learn a lot about Stanford, Oregon, and some Big 12 teams with gaudy records facing the top of the league. Then we close by handing out some Christmas gifts, and draft our all-time Stanford teams.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
One week to go until Christmas, but CFP starts in less than 48 hours so let's round up the rest of the CSN gang and get some analysis. Wayne Cook joins the show from So Cal, Felder checks in from his home office, and Hartzell & Tripp are riding along for the good vibes. Phil Steele makes his weekly appearance to break down the four playoff games (plus a little FCS playoff action as well), and as usual Phil might be the only one on the show seeing things clearly. Felder is triggered by some comments Pete Golding had on Wednesday at the podium about some of his players living in the same country club that he lives in. Hartzell heard the same audio but translated it very differently, and you already know how Wayne feels about the modern student-athlete. Once the show gets back on track there is actual football talk. Felder picks a massive upset - which is something he's been doing with aplomb all season on this show. Can he stay hot in the CFP? Tripp gives his highest rated play of the weekend. And Hartzell doubles down on his Dukes. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and let's get ready to enjoy these games!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We are nine days out from Christmas ... but we're breaking down ball today, kids. Hartzell got his hot yoga flow in early, Lock Dizzy is in the house, and there's a real expert - Roddy Jones - with us to break down these first round games. There's four CFP games this weekend, we hit on all of them - with some visual aids for you YouTubers thanks to Roddy breaking down film. Can Oklahoma do the thing again against Alabama on Friday night (the thing is get outgained and outplayed but force turnovers and short fields and win ugly). Who handles business in the coin-flip game between Miami and Texas A&M? Roddy calls for an upset in College Station but agrees it could go either way. And finally, do either of the G5 participants have a chance on the road Saturday? Experts will tell you no, but Hartzell is no expert. He lays out his path for a JMU upset in Eugene - knowing full well just how unlikely it is - but makes a reasonable case for the anatomy of what an upset would look like. Tulane has no chance in hell of doing anything against Ole Miss and the 45-10 regular season meeting back in September should be reason enough. Should Hartzell be drug tested for his takes? What about Lock Dizzle who can't help himself with the bad FSU takes? We're back with part two on Thursday with Wayne & Felder ... enjoy!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Iowa State stole the show on an otherwise quiet week with a Cy-Hawk rivalry win over Iowa - how high is the Cyclones' ceiling? Rob Joyce and Megan Gauer discuss that, other happenings from the week (can someone figure out K-State?), and preview a week to come that is light in quantity, but has some high quality games, plus a couple of sleepers (watch out Notre Dame and Duke). Then they end by picking some all-time South Carolina teams - you tell us whose is better?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The bracket is set. Notre Dame is at home working on their golf game, but we got first-round games coming up in 10 days so it's time to assemble the whole gang and talk ball. The CSN dream team is here - Roddy Jones, Wayne Cook, Michael Felder, with Hartzell playing traffic cop and steering the ship. What was it like on the ESPN set on Sunday when the dominos started to fall? Roddy takes us behind the curtain on how all the drama unfolded in real time. What do the guys think about the Miami & Alabama inclusion, while the golden-domers get left out? Who are the most dangerous teams in the field? Who is underrated? Who is overrated? All of that PLUS some bigtime discussion on the coaching moves that have gone down over the last two weeks, like - for example - is the Matt Campbell thing really going to work out? Wayne is about to meet Bob Chesney at the introductory press conference at UCLA, which means the moratorium has been lifted - at least for now. CSN mega-show coming at you!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We're fighting the elements. Megan is in Europe, Rob's kid is home because it rained in North Carolina overnight and school is closed. No matter, they recap the ACC/SEC Challenge, talk about the NET and what tweaks (if any) need to be made to it, run through some surprises (good and bad) so far this season, and preview a light week to come. Then they wrap with their latest all-time team draft by selecting Notre Dame players.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Last real weekend of college football, at least when it comes to meaningful games that are going to affect you-know-what coming down the line here in a matter of weeks. It's Championship weekend, we got NINE conference championship games going down on Friday and Saturday and then we get to hand out some hardware and make snow angels in the confetti. Felder is breaking down his top storylines of the weekend with the Felder Five (TM), Tripp is out here trying to re-organize intercollegiate athletics because, well, we're not really sure, and Hartzell is trying to stop the bleeding in the picks segment and find a winning weekend. It all comes down to this, the reason why you go through two-a-days in the summer, the picks champion will be crowned after the conclusion of this weekend's games. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
There are nine FBS football games on the docket this week as conference championship games crank up on Friday and Saturday, so we might as well bring on our man Phil Steele (who's already in 2026 magazine mode. Yes, really) to run though his leans and selections for each of these games. The CFP committee rolled out their penultimate set of rankings on Tuesday night, so how about Hartzell & Wayne react to them live so you can wrap your head around all of these scenarios on Wednesday? The teams ranked 9-12 are going to be sweating it out on Sunday if BYU pulls the upset against Texas Tech. Is Alabama safe no matter what happens against Georgia? And how can the 10-2 Irish get in over the same 10-2 team that beat them head-to-head for (potentially) the final at-large spot? Lots to digest, and still one more weekend of games to get though before the 12-team CFP is set. Join us, won't you?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Absolutely jam-packed show on deck for you today, led by the incomparable Roddy Jones who wears many hats but has his ACC cap on for todays discussion on - in addition to many other things - how we got to Duke in the ACCCG & what to do about the Canes in the CFP. You want to talk about all the coach movement? We got you covered. Curious how Roddy feels about the Committee's performance through the first few weeks of polling? We got that too. Rivalry week reaction and a lookahead to the Championship games on deck Friday & Saturday? Obviously. Lots to get to in a loaded nearly 2-hour CSN that spans the college football landscape. And yes, we even let Tripp get a few words in. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's the day after Thanksgiving and the fellas are full - of food, beverages, and football takes. After a turkey day recap, the guys get down to the rivalry week analysis, the real reason you're all here. Felder Five covers Egg Bowl, Clean-old-Fashioned Hate, what to do with Miami/Pitt, plus The Game and A&M at Texas. Absolutely loaded card from our boy Felder who's not shying away from the big games. Hartzell and Phil Steele go one-on-one with all of the games on the top-25 for a solid 30 minutes, then we're back with piiiicks and 'That's My Dog', including a couple of bonus plays from Felder who's in a good mood today. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday, be safe traveling this weekend and enjoy these games!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Week 14 - Thanksgiving Day Edition of the Phil Steele is in your feed and ready for consumption. Phil Steele gives his picks and analysis on 25+ games to get you ready for the holiday weekend. We talk Egg Bowl, Clean Old Fashioned Hate, The Game, Iron Bowl and much more. Phil’s Top-3 Plays of the Week are included and have gone 19-7-1 over the last nine weeks. Bet smarter, not harder.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
So much going on with today's show, and we mean that in a good way. For starters, we got Roddy AND Wayne to walk us through this massive rivalry week of games and look back on the weekend that was. Lock Dizzle is back with week 13 takeaways, as well as a look at the nine P4 jobs that are currently open thanks to Cal parting ways with Justin Wilcox on Sunday. Roddy & Wayne have fond memories about what this week means to them as former players and alums (who know all about what it means to beat their arch rival at the end of the season), and they both talk about it in great detail. Plus some must-hear audio from both of those guys' playing days makes a surprise appearance on the program! Last but not least we got some picks from Rodstra - a lot of picks, actually - to wrap up the show. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and thank you so much for listening to us when you're on the road this week. Safe travels and know that we are thankful and grateful for your listenership. Enjoy the week, everybody!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Felder Friday + Lock Dizzle

Felder Friday + Lock Dizzle

2025-11-2101:28:51

Week 13 of the college football season is upon us and the fellas are navigating through some brackish waters with a mixed bag of games this weekend. Folks are saying this is a down weekend because obviously the final week is loaded but there's still plenty to jump into. The Lock Doctor has re-branded himself because he's 1-5 in his last two weeks, total free-fall mode. Hartzell is also coming off a rough weekend of picks but still leads the overall standings. Felder is fired up because Thanksgiving is just 6 days away and he's cooking - literally and figuratively - with the Felder 5 this week touching on conference races in the AAC, ACC, SEC, and Big 12. We already know what's going on in the B1G but the best game of the weekend might just be in Eugene between the Ducks and Trojans. That's my Dog and Three for All never disappoint, especially when the 'Lock Dizzle' is on the mic fo' shizzleSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
On the first show of the season Rob Joyce predicted Duke would make the Final Four. It hasn't aged great, and he's in his feelings about it, with a large donut to help him calm down. Aside from that, he and Megan Gauer recap all the other happenings from the week - nice wins Iowa and St. John's! - and preview a fun week to come with UConn-Michigan, USC-Notre Dame and the Players Era all going on next week. Then they wrap the show with by drafting teams solely made up of LSU players.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Week 13 College Football Picks are locked and loaded into your feed. Phil Steele is 19-4-1 on his Top-3 Plays of the Week over the last 8 weeks. Once again, Phil delivers his picks and analysis on 25+ games for the upcoming slate. Thursday and Friday selections start us off and we go straight into some of the biggest matchups on the board for a critical Saturday with playoff implications at every corner. Bet smarter, not harder.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
New rankings dropped Tuesday night, so you know we had to jump in with some takes. Wayne's actually not that outraged, given his history in these types of shows. Should there be 5 SEC teams in the field? Committee says yes. Bad news for the ACC and potentially the Big 12 but there's still a lot of football left to be played over the next three weeks. Hartzell gets sappy about the G5 and what the committee gave us in the 20-25 bunch at the bottom of the polls. This is, after all, the same Tulane team that lost by 22 to UTSA but hey, nobody's perfect. Phil Steele joins the show for his usual 30-minute ride through the top-25. How does Phil feel about some of the biggest matchups on the card for this week? Plus, some rare Ohio State talk since this team has just been a chainsaw all season we haven't really talked about how they go about their business. Wayne saw it first-hand last weekend, what did he take away from seeing the #1 team in the land?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Virginia Tech has a new football coach and as luck would have it we got one of the ACC's best in Roddy Jones to help us unpack what it means to the fine folks in Blacksburg. How do we think this is going to go? Roddy breaks it down for us, plus we got our weekly takeaways (best thing, worst thing, thing that shocked us) from the weekend. Rodstra has been treading water lately with the picks but if he doesn't buck up and string together a couple of winning weeks on the way outta here we're going to finish below .500 (again). Early week edition of CSN is in your feed a little earlier than usual because Hartzell & Tripp have a day of community service planned ... so everyone's a winner, really.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
UCLA notched two double-digit neutral-site victories over Oklahoma and UNC - are the Bruins the best team in the country? Megan Gauer and Rob Joyce talk UCLA, some notable other happenings from the week (USC over NC State, how many steals from Hannah Hidalgo??, a super fun Fairfield-USF game in Vegas). They preview the weekend ahead with some big-time Saturday matchups in Detroit (Michigan-Notre Dame) and LA (USC-South Carolina) and they wrap the show by each picking an all-time Baylor team (45:15 mark) - whose is better? Drop a note in the comments:Team Megan: Brittney Griner (Pick 1)Lauren Cox (Pick 4)DiJonai Carrington (Pick 5)NaLyssa Smith (Pick 7)Nina Davis (Pick 8) DiDi Richards (Pick 11) - reserveTeam Rob:Odyssey Sims (Pick 2)Sophia Young (Pick 3)Suzie Snider Eppers (Pick 4)Kalani Brown (Pick 7)Sheila Lambert (Pick 9) Chloe Jackson (Pick 10) - reserveSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This is a great pod to get primed on Fridays for college football Saturdays. Felder Fridays have some great insight. Hartzell and Felder have a great rapport and provide some good insight and things to watch for in some key games.
