Compositions Soundscapes

Tune into the sounds of Central Saint Martins from wherever you are in the world. Whether you want to close your eyes and imagine yourself in the College, or simply need some white noise to work to, these soundscapes from around the building are available for you 24 hours a day. === Compositions is a gift to welcome new students joining us this year. It's a place to return to whenever you need inspiration, wherever you are in the world.

The Library

Central Saint Martins Library provides students with a range of resources and services to support their learning and research. The library has a wide range of collections, services and facilities supporting the courses taught at the College, including books, DVDs, journals and an extensive range of electronic resources. You can reserve items online from all six UAL libraries, then collect them from the CSM Library. The lower floor of the library is a space for study and research. Facilities include an open access computing area, multi-function printing/scanning/photocopying devices and the Materials and Products Collection. The upper floor is a designated quiet study space. Facilities include individual study booths. In order to ensure that everyone can social distance safely, current students will need to book to use our individual study spaces and computers. To support research and study, Library Services offers access to the e-library for current students and staff. The e-library contains a comprehensive collection of resources including databases and e-journal titles.

The Canteen

With a focus on health and sustainability, the CSM canteen offers meals cooked with local ingredients: suppliers are known in person and all the meat is from local farms; free range eggs are sourced from Staveley Farm, and Lo Salt or no salt at all is used in the cooking of our meals. The Canteen serves meals to our students everyday. The service is provided by BaxterStorey, an industry leader in sustainable, quality food, which is sourced locally and prepared by their chefs in our onsite kitchens. For opening times, please visit the Canteens and cafés page.

The Street

Welcome to the Compositions Soundscapes, and welcome to the sounds of The Street. The Street is a large, open-plan area at the centre of our King’s Cross campus. Studios, workshops and lecture theatres are built around a covered stretch of open space, with overhead walkways across three upper levels and a vaulted skylight. On the Street you’ll also find the College arts supplies shop, The Central Loan Store and the Canteen. The Street is often used for student exhibitions and performances, and is the heart of our annual Degree Shows. The fluidity of the space allows students and staff from different areas of the College to meet, talk and collaborate.
