A few years ago, Emmaus Christian Fellowship decided to do away with Children’s Church (Children’s Ministry) and to bring the little ones into the worship service with the rest of the congregation. Sometimes the assumption is that we made this move because we lacked the resources to sustain a full blown Children’s Ministry. That is not the case. In this episode, Mike Thezier and Joe Anady spend a little time discussing the rationale behind the decision and also present some advice to parents for getting the most out of the worship service with the kids.

Anyone who has taken the time to compare Momen beliefs with Christian beliefs will notice that a great difference exists between the two faiths. In this episode Joe Anady interviews John Divito in an attempt to understand the reason for the differences in doctrine. John was raised in the Mormon church before his conversion to Christianity. He therefore offers a unique perspective on this subject.

Can a person know that they have eternal life? After doing pastoral ministry for some time I have grown convinced that this is a question of tremendous importance to the people of God. While it is true that there are some who have a sense of assurance who should not (unbelievers, false believers), our concern here is to encourage those who are in Christ to lay ahold of assurance. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13, ESV)

The question at hand is, if someone is truly a Christian – if they possess true faith, have been justified, and adopted into the family of God, etc. – is it possible for them to lose all of that by falling away from the faith? This doctrine seeks to communicate the biblical truth that the Triune God has provided salvation for his people - The Father has decreed it, the Son has earned it, and the Spirit effectively applies it. In this episode Joe Anady and Mike Thezier turn their attention to the doctrine of unconditional election. This is one of the so-called five points of Calvinism. Here we encounter the Biblical teaching that God has predestined some for salvation from before the creation of the world. This election is based, not upon anything deserving within the sinner, but upon the free grace of God (it is unconditional). We begin with unconditional election (and not with total depravity) because it was the first thing to happen (chronologically) in regard to man’s salvation.
