Connected Leaders Academy Confucius says, “We have two lives and the second begins when we realize we only have one.” Yes, we have one life, which, in my view, has four primary aspects for us to prioritise and nurture: physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. Our mental aspect often leads and can be relentless in how it values and disregards the other three. It often prioritizes the physical self because it ‘transports’ the mind to its business meetings and social functions. The mind can devalue the spiritual and emotional aspects, considering them non-essential to survival, yet choose to include them only when necessary. Yet the spiritual and emotional aspects bring the quality, harmony and purpose to a person’s life, and without these, life can become shallow and one-dimensional. The Hopi call this: ‘Koyaanisqatsi’, meaning ‘life out of balance’. If you are aware of your ‘one life’ opportunity, you might have made changes that include better self-love, nurturing and care for yourself, partner and loved ones, while valuing your physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Your life can prioritize love, balance, holidays, fun, family, children, grandchildren, dawgs, cats etc. In my talk, I’ll focus on the importance of valuing and balancing your four aspects of self.
