Ashley is a singer/songwriter who became one of the most memorable characters in The Show About the Show. Season 2 chronicled our brief romantic entanglement and subsequent disentanglement. Season 3 is about what happened during the making of Season 2. It was rough there for a while but we're still friends.
In the wake of Stefan's recent passing, Kathy, my ex, wanted to have another conversation before we both die. I wanted to as well.
Stefan Melichar died on September 30th. This podcast conversation was recorded in January of 2022. It was supposed to be the first podcast in the series but was never released.
Alex Karpovsky is one of my favorite people. He played himself in Episodes 1 and 2 of The Show About the Show. He was also in the HBO series Girls. He was also my guest on the pilot episode of Getting Stoned with Caveh.
Amin is my younger half-brother. He played himself in "I Don’t Hate Las Vegas Anymore," appeared briefly in "In the Bathtub of the World," can be glimpsed in the wedding scene in "I Am a Sex Addict," and is in the end credits of Episode 12 of "The Show About The Show." Patreon bonus tracks include links to all of the above plus more.
Arnold Barkus is a screenwriter and my main writing partner. We met in college where we were both philosophy majors and quickly became best friends. He played himself in both A Little Stiff and The Show About the Show.
Russell Brown is one of my favorite people in the world. His films include Race You to the Bottom (2005), The Blue Tooth Virgin (2008), and Loren & Rose (2022).
Jay Rosenblatt is a great filmmaker and one of my closest friends. His last two films were both nominated for oscars. His films include "Short of Breath," "Human Remains," "The Smell of Burning Ants," "Phantom Limb," "The Darkness of Day," "When We Were Bullies," and "How Do You Measure a Year?"
Episode 15: Conversation with Jamie Hook by Caveh Zahedi
Lindsay Burdge played Mandy in Seasons 2, 3 (still unreleased), and 4 of The Show About the Show. She also acted in my adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses (also still unreleased). She also acted in Joe Swanberg's Easy, Hannah Fidell's A Teacher, and Karyn Kusama's The Invitation.
Bill Brown is one of my favorite filmmakers. He is also the author of Dream Whip, my favorite zine. We started a video correspondence in 2001 in which we sent video letters back and forth to each other until 2005.
Eleonore Hendricks is an actress and casting director who played herself in The Show About the Show. She also plays Molly Bloom in my not-soon-to-be-released adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses.
Jacques Servin is one of the founders of the Yes Men, a prankster activist group whose work was profiled in The Yes Men (2003), The Yes Men Fix The World (2009), and The Yes Men Are Revolting (2014). We also co-taught a class at the New School in which we made a film with our students called How to Overthrow the US Government (Legally).
Bianca Giaever is a filmmaker and podcaster. I highly recommend her podcast Constellation Prize and especially the episodes called "Two Years with Franz," "The Crossing Guard," and "Caveh is God."
Richard Edson is an actor, musician, photographer and writer. He acted in "Stranger Than Paradise" and "Platoon" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." He used to play drums for Sonic Youth. We also wrote an unproduced script together many years ago. You can listen to all the episodes at https://www.patreon.com/cavehzahedi
Maxwell di Paolo is a filmmaker and sound recordist. We collaborated on "365 Stories I Want to Tell You Before We Both Die" and he did all the sound engineering for "I tried recording myself all day every day for 365 days but it was destroying all my relationships so I started a daily audio journal instead but that was even more destructive." This is the first episode of a new podcast series.
