After spending the day volunteering at The Retreat animal sanctuary we took the opportunity to interview the wonderful founder Billy. The Retreat was born in 1989 out of frustration at the way the human race treats animals. Dene Stansall – Dene has spent over 20 years taking on the horse racing industry, and has acted as a true force for change in the lives of so many horses. Too often, horses are killed and injured in the horse racing industry. Once an avid racing fan, when faced with the brutality of this industry, Dene could not ignore the suffering of animals involved, and instead has dedicated his life to exposing the dark side of racing and standing up for horses. In today’s episode of Conversations On Compassion we interview the wonderful Dr Carol Treasure. Carol is co-founder of the award-winning XCellR8, an animal-free safety testing laboratory – and a leader in the scientific community. XCellR8 are currently working to eradicate the cruel LD50 tests, which were invented nearly a hundred years ago, but are still sadly still very much in use today.
