Welcome back to Conversations with a College Coach – Leaders & Locker Rooms. It’s been a month since my last conversation with Chris Petrucelli and Brian Lee. If you haven’t listened to that episode, I strongly encourage you to go back and listen to it when you get a chance. I’ve learned that running a podcast by yourself is very time consuming. So getting it produced while I’m in season right now, well let’s just say my free time is pretty limited. Today I have a very special guest on the podcast. Todd Yelton is the head women’s soccer coach at Samford University. Todd’s teams have won 6 straight regular season championships…yes, 6 straight. Do you realize how incredibly hard that is? Well today you’ll hear how he’s created this culture of excellence, how he prepares his teams for competition, and his thoughts on finding your identity outside of sport. Todd is one of the most genuine coaches in the game and I’m so thankful for his willingness to share his experiences with me. If you find value in the podcast, please give it a rating and share with your friends and coaches. I want to have a positive impact on as many coaches as possible. Now here’s my conversation with Todd Yelton.
Welcome back to Conversations with a Coach – Leaders and Locker Rooms. My name is Marty Beall and I am the head women’s soccer coach at the University of Richmond. I am so excited to share this conversation with you today. On this episode, we have 2 coaches who have amassed over 700 wins and both have led 3 outstanding women’s soccer programs. Chris Petrucelli from SMU and Brian Lee from Rice provide valuable insight into developing leadership and culture at the elite level. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Welcome back to Conversations with a College Coach – Leaders & Locker Rooms. This episode is very special for me. This is my final episode of season 1. I can’t think of a better was to close out my first season of having a podcast than with today’s guest. Our final episode of season 1 is with Travis Thomas who is the Leadership and Team Dynamics Coach for the US Men’s National Soccer Team. Travis works with numerous professional teams, college programs and also is the founder of Live Yes And. Travis has had an enormous impact everywhere he goes. His unique background in improv allows Travis to provide valuable and practical ways to develop strong relationships with those around us. As I’m sure you’re aware, I believe relationships are everything in coaching.   Now before we get to my conversation with Travis, I want to thank each of you for choosing to listen to Conversations with a College Coach – Leaders & Locker Rooms. I’m especially thankful for my guests who have generously giving their time to share their experiences with all of us. As we enjoy the holidays, please share this podcast with other coaches so we can continue to have a positive influence on each other which in turn will have a positive impact on those we get to coach.
Welcome back to Conversations w/ a College Coach – Leaders & Locker Rooms. Today’s guest is Heather Macy, the winningest women’s basketball coach in program history at East Carolina University. Heather is currently the Assistant Director of Athletics and head women’s basketball coach at her alma mater, Greensboro College. My conversation with Heather was simply awesome!! We dive into how important your mindset is as a coach as well as the importance of understanding and applying emotional intelligence in everything we do as coaches. But before we get to my conversation with Heather, I want to take a second and thank you for listening. There are thousands of podcasts out there so I’m so grateful that you chose to listen. Very special guest on this episode of Conversations with a College Coach - Leaders & Locker Rooms. Becky Burleigh ranks 3rd in all time Division I wins with over 500 wins in her 31 years as a head coach. What makes Becky so special is not just her success on the field, but even more importantly it's the impact she's made and continues to make in the lives of the athletes she gets to coach as well as the numerous coaches who come in contact with Becky. Coach Burleigh is also the co-founder of What Drives Winning which is making a HUGE impact on coaches at all levels and across all sports!!
Today’s conversation is with Brian Morehouse, head women’s basketball coach at Hope College. Brian won 600 games faster than any basketball coach in history. He has won 20 + games for 22 straight years, including last year’s perfect 29-0 record. What really impressed me with Brian is his dedication to growing the individual player both as a person and as a player. When you add that dedication to player development with his focus on attention to detail in everything he does, it’s no surprise that Brain’s teams are consistently so successful. Please give this podcast a 5 star rating if you don’t mind and share it with other coaches so we can help the podcast grow and make a difference in our coaching community. If you want to get in touch with me, send me questions or provide feedback, you can find our podcast on Twitter @CwCCPodcast again that’s @CwCCPodcast I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Now grab your pen and paper because there’s so much to take away from this conversation with Brian.
Tim Santoro, head women’s soccer coach at NC State, joined me on Conversations with a College Coach – Leaders & Locker Rooms. Tim spent over 16 years as an assistant coach before arriving at NC State and he worked tirelessly to turn the program around and they are now consistently one of the top 20 programs in the nation. Tim’s journey to become a head coach is one of patience, dedication, and relentless pursuit of becoming the best coach he can be. That preparation was critical as he became a head coach.
I had the honor of having a conversation with Randy Waldrum, head women’s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburg. Randy has over 30 years of head coaching experience at the collegiate level and currently ranks 4th in the NCAA with over 400 wins. We discuss a wide variety of topics like how the game as evolved during his career, what culture means to Randy, the value of face to face conversations, and what does it mean to be a runner, jogger, or a walker as a leader…of course we discuss coaching through Covid as his ACC team is playing this fall and off to a 4-0 start….we even get into Randy’s hiring process for his assistant coaches. So grab a pen and paper as Randy gives us valuable information for all of us to learn from him. I know you’ll enjoy this conversation as much as did.
