S2-E231 Vaughn Thompson & Ty Thompson

(9/25/26) Mike and cohost, Callie Walker welcomed Chicago authors Vaughn Thompson and Ty Thompson - dad and daughter writers of The Unfinished Prophecy and The Lost Prophecy - Books one and two  the Everworld book series,  'Daniel the Different' It all began when Vaughn said, “Dad, I have a great idea for book” So, over one cold Chicago Thanksgiving break, when the family had played all the games and crafted all of the crafts, Ty said, “Hey, what if we write that book of yours?” Thus, the beginning of Book one - 'Daniel the Different' The 'Unfinished Prophecy.' Book two, The Lost Prophecy soon followed. Vaughn has always been an avid reader and loves writing, so it was only natural that when on Thanksgiving break in 5th grade, she would start writing a novel with her dad inspired by a dream world that she has imagined. She loved writing characters and dreaming up the characters within Everworld, and had even more fun writing Book 2! Ty grew up loving to create and write— often writing essays or blogs for competitions, his own entertainment or for friends and family. When Vaughn said she wanted to write a book, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to share something he loves to do with someone he loves— and Daniel the Different was born. In addition to Vaughn's creative writing skills, Chicago-based Iyla Vaughn is a singer-songwriter whose sound moves between bubble-grunge and cinematic pop. Her debut single 'I Wasn't Creeping' - is available now on Spotify, Amazon and Apple! Check out her homepage:  https://iylavaughn.com The Everworld book series, 'The Unfinished Prophecy' and 'The Lost Prophecy' are available on Amazon and their website. S2-E230 Gene Loveland

(9-17-2026) Mike and cohost, singer-songwriter Chloe Penny welcomed Gene Loveland to ConversationsRadio Ep.230. Gene is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter whose songs live at the intersection of grit, grace, redemption, and real life. Drawing from a lifetime of experiences both on and off the stage, Gene writes songs that blend honest storytelling with emotional depth. Whether he's telling the story of a husband facing a life-changing medical diagnosis, reflecting on the roads that led him away from home, or finding hope in life's messiest chapters, his goal is simple: write songs that make people feel seen. In recent years, Gene's songwriting has gained growing recognition. His song "Grace in the Mess" was named a Semi-Finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and earned an Honorable Mention in American Songwriter's Lyric Contest. His song "No More One Days" was selected as a finalist in a Nashville Songwriters Association International chapter competition. As both a solo acoustic performer and active collaborator, Gene continues to split his time between Los Angeles and Nashville, building relationships within the songwriting community and expanding his catalog through co-writing and recording. His music reflects a belief that even in life's hardest seasons, there is always a story worth telling and a reason to keep moving forward. Whether performing in a writer’s round, sharing a stripped-down acoustic song, or crafting a lyric in the early morning hours before work, Gene writes with the same purpose: to create honest songs about real people, real struggles, and the hope that carries us through them.
