Sir Simmy, Real Name Simphiwe, is a deejay that emerges from the streets of Johannesburg. His love for deep house journeys way back to when he first started collecting deep house records. Simmy is also part of a Music Troupe with three other members (Tshidiso Makoti, Rhulane Hubenyane & Mojaki Ratsoe), they go by Helmet Cracker Movement (HCM) and their handle is known as #HelmetCracker. The Troupe consists of not only enthusiastic spinners, but also potential producers/artist and a writer. With HCM Sir Simmy is able to expand his reach as a young DJ across the country and possibly the globe; The Helmet Cracker Movement Crew release monthly podcast on Podomatic, which is known and recommended by many DJs and artists around the world. As a growing spinner, Sir Simmy has a handful of mentors and muses; each having their own style. Because of this, Sir Simmy is able to learn different types of music that the world would like to hear. It is within this journey that Sir Simmy found himself expand his selection from House Music to other genres such as Jazz, Lounge, Trip Hop, Soul & Afro Beat to name a few.
