Maggie Daniels was a 31 one year old beloved teacher and school counselor in North Carolina. When friends and family didn’t hear from her they immediately sprung into action, and she was found brutally murdered in her apartment. In 1976, Martin Dillon, a promising lawyer in Montrose, PA, was shot and killed during a clay shooting trip with his friend, Dr. Stephen Scher. Scher claimed it was an accidental self-inflicted gunshot, but rumors of an affair between Scher and Martin’s wife, Patricia, cast doubt. It would take many years to unravel this story. Bernita White was enjoying a local zoo in Lansing, Michigan on a summer day in June 2001. While entering the zoo with her daughter an unknown shooter fired 1 bullet and killed Bernita instantly with a high powered rifle. Five teenage friends went out to Gitchie Manitou State Preserve one night in November of 1973 for a fun night of music around a campfire. Sadly, only 1 of them returned home. After being approached by 3 men claiming to be police officers, 4 of them were gunned down for no reason. The sole survivor fought bravely and was able to obtain justice for her 4 friends. Stacey Hanna was an 18 year old woman who was searching for her place as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. She believed that she had finally found her people in some friends who lived in Richmond, Virginia. Shortly after moving in, however, Stacey became an outcast within the group. It wasn’t long before 4 of her so-called “friends” plotted to teach her a lesson and brutally murdered her. Timothy Ferguson was a sweet, 15 year old boy, with special needs, living with his mom and 2 brothers. Timothy was found dead in his bed in July of 2022. Phillip Ingle had a troubled past and struggled with substance abuse disorder and mental health issues. But then in 1991, he terrorized a small North Carolina town by brutally murdering 4 of its elderly residents for seemingly no reason. In February of 1959 10 young people embarked on a journey to hike and ski Dead Mountain in the northern Soviet Union. 1 of the hikers turned back a day into the trip, leaving the remaining 9 to carry on. When they failed to make contact and return on time, search parties were sent out to find them. The hikers were all found dead and their campsite was found undisturbed. Christopher Meyer was a sweet 10 year old boy who went missing after fishing at a local boat dock near his home in Kankanee County, Illinois in August of 1995. He was later found murdered. 14 years before, in May 1981, 5 year old Tara Sue Huffman was also found murdered in the same area. These 2 families had no idea that through the loss of their 2 children that they would forever be connected to fight for reform and change in the justice system.
