From the creator of Crimetown and Morally Indefensible comes a new podcast, Firebug. In the early 1990s, a manuscript for a novel called “Points of Origin” lands at literary agencies across the country. It tells the story of a fictional serial arsonist who lights up southern California. The thing is… the fires described in the novel may actually be real. Was Points of Origin a work of fiction, or the confessions of a prolific arsonist and murderer? Host Kary Antholis goes on a journey to figure out where fiction meets reality. Listen now, wherever you get your podcasts. Today we are sharing an episode about the notorious crime boss Ma Barker. On July 26, 1932, Ma Barker's alleged gang of thieves stole over $200,000 from a Kansas bank without firing a single shot. None of these guys appear to feel any remorse at all. Bribes, threats, crooked deals, even scamming his own charity!! The mayor's own dad laughing about his son's first jail sentence "oh he's in jail for having some sex" hahaha. Conveniently and easily overlooking the perjury as if lying repeatedly in court is nothing. Yet everytime Kilpatrick gets hit with another new charge he insists that THIS time he's innocent. FFS does he actually think ANYONE believes him? His absolute arrogance is revolting.Even after a 28 year sentence he's still saying it's all a stitch up and he's not guilty. 🤯
