Cross Checking

Ben and Josh continue looking at the 'wisdom' of Job's friends with the words of Zophar - perhaps one of the earliest prosperity gospel preachers.

When suffering hits, the temptation is to treat God like a calculator: good behavior in, blessing out. But Bildad’s logic in Job 8 exposes a far deeper problem - not just bad theology, but the pride of assuming we can always explain what God is doing. Josh and Ben unpack the speech of Job’s friend Bildad and show why his theory of divine justice falls short. If you’ve ever wondered whether hardship means punishment, whether obedience guarantees immediate reward, or why some pain makes sense only in hindsight, this conversation gives you a clearer, more biblical framework. This episode will challenge you to stop pretending you can read God’s mind and start trusting his wisdom instead.
