I was 11 and I turned in my own mother for physical abuse. I also reported the name, address and events of my sex trafficking...at the hands of her boyfriend...in detail to the police. Hardest...most gut-wrenching decision I've ever had to make. But I knew in my heart that what was happening to me was WRONG. Nobody was coming to help me. I made a decision to get myself help. Why? I knew there was more. And I didn’t want any other kid to go through what had happened to me. People have lots of reasons why they NEVER told a soul or reported their abuse or rape as a kid. What does Easter mean to you? The Easter Bunny...the fancy dresses, family dinners...and Easter Egg Hunts. EGGS can be in all different forms. Hard boiled. Raw. Rotten. All have a shell. We use that word to "dismiss" someone or to flippantly move on to some other topic of conversation. I want us all to get in our minds…**IT MATTERS HOW WE SAY WHATEVER! I've been through some horrific abuse and torture. And people ask me all the time, "HOW do you TRUST Jesus...when He ALLOWED it?" Many of us have been hurt and disappointed at the DEEPEST level…but instead of telling the truth or dealing with it…we hold back. We run. We will not allow ourselves to be hurt worse, so we refuse to trust Him or anyone else. Instead of dealing with the crud, we blame God for what has happened, and we depend on ourselves.
