Luxor is working on building a more transparent mining value chain and financial instruments for miners. Before founding Luxor, Ethan was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Ethan advised MNCs on cross-border Asia M&A (buy-side, sell-side, take private, private placement and activism defense) transactions across the semiconductor, renewable energy, and internet industries. Prior to Goldman, Ethan worked in Asset Management at Royal Bank of Canada, helping manage pensions for some of Canada’s largest institutions.

Fun Fact: He once worked as a computing security specialist for Boeing on the Airborne Laser Program (modified Boeing 747-400F platform with a big laser on the nose) and now vows to one day travel into space.

Henry held various executive roles from product marketing to strategic planning to Corporate Development. Today we present Dan Conover of Tessarack LLC who has built and designed large scale regular data centers, moved into the crypto-mining space in 2012, and built commercial scale farms in 2013. He has learned all of the tricks by engineering failures and redesigns and consulting multiple large scale projects to see failure in the container data center space, both in design and corporate structure issues. Through seeing these concerns, Dan formed Tessarack LLC.

Steve Barbour is a Mechanical Engineer in the Canadian energy sector whom in early 2017 combined his experience in the traditional energy sector with Bitcoin mining. Spotting an opportunity to turn excess energy produced in oil & gas wells into Bitcoin, he created Upstream Data, which prides itself in designing, constructing and operating modular Bitcoin mining solutions for upstream oil and gas facilities. This resulted in a reduction of GHG emissions by monetizing stranded gas such as vented and flared natural gas at oil production facilities.

On this episode, we have Charlie & Christian join us for an exciting conversation. Charlie started an oil & gas data completions data business, Oilfield Logix, in 2013. Oilfield Logix partners with oil & gas consultants, Spears & Associates, to produce market reports on the US land drilling market. A longtime Bitcoin bull, Charlie started hobby ASIC mining in early 2019. Charlie partnered with Christian at Colossus Processing to scale his mining operation and transition the data-center to mining off pipeline gas. Christian Krautter started Colossus Processing in 2013 and expanded into GPU mining in 2016. Colossus built it's own facility in 2017 in Tulsa, OK and currently houses thousands of GPUS. Christian has personally developed many systems at every level to optimize a data-center -- From electrical distribution solutions, to software implementation, and mining rig design. Christian is also developing a proprietary miner management software. Today, with 2 other partners, they are designing a model to expand mining to the wellhead.
Rolf Versluis is Co-Founder and Executive Advisor of the privacy oriented cryptocurrency Horizen. He also operates private cryptocurrency mining facilities with thousands of operational systems, and has a blog and YouTube channel on how to mine profitably. As a board member of Zen Blockchain Foundation, Rolf is at the forefront of cryptocurrency development and operations. A founder of North Georgia Crypto Mining, he has the opportunity to work in the mining space where the business revenue and investor returns are generated in cryptocurrency.
Apolline Blandin currently leads the cryptocurrency and blockchain research programme at the Centre for Alternative Finance, a research centre at the University of Cambridge. With her team, she's been conducting research on the cryptoasset ecosystem, producing an annual report called the "Global Cryptoasset Benchmarking Study". This study is based on non-publicly available data directly collecting data from companies and individuals operating in the cryptoasset industry. She also co-authored a report of the regulatory landscape of the cryptoasset ecosystem, a conceptual framework and comparative analysis of regulators' response to the emergence of cryptocurrencies. Most recently, they released the "Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index", a live real-time estimate of the amount of electricity consumed by the Bitcoin network. The purpose of this project was to bring nuances in the ongoing debate about Bitcoin's footprint.
Pop Adrian joins us on today's episode of Crypto Mining Tools. He started from humble beginnings in 2013 when he was just an everyday miner with 1 GPU rig. Today, Adrian is maintaining BlockChain Host, the largest Bitcoin mining facility in Eastern Europe. He operates the 63MW/h facility that is located in Romania. Adrian is also working on a video tutorial blog about Bitcoin and is educating many people about his journey.
Tony Gertz works for a private company as a disaster planning consultant. He first became involved in cryptocurrency mining in the later half of 2012. He began his hobby, which later transformed into a part-time side gig, with 2 Butterfly Labs FPGAs and some GPU-based Litecoin mining rigs. Since then, he has upscaled his bookshelf operation to over 50 ASICs at various colocation facilities across the country. Throughout the growth of his mining company he has experienced the numerous ups and downs that have plagued the cryptocurrency community. Of most recent note has been his difficulties in selecting dedicated, competent, and experienced colocation facilities to host his miners.
JP Baric is the founder and CEO of MiningStore, a well-established technology company that hosts cryptocurrency miners. JP became interested in cryptocurrency as a freshman in high school and by his junior year was mining on a large-scale. In 2015 he launched MiningStore and quickly built a reputation for manufacturing some of the highest-quality rigs on the market. Today, JP is one of the leading experts on cryptocurrency mining and is a frequent guest and contributor on industry-leading outlets. He regularly consults with Fortune 500 companies on high-value projects and has developed large-scale commercial mining facilities.
