Well, things keep getting crazier and crazier in the 'Land of No Consequences'. Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland discuss what happened at Alex Murdaugh’s federal plea hearing and how it’s just one step in a much larger plan. Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin seem to have one goal right now and that’s to get Alex moved to federal prison. There’s one person standing in their way: Judge Clifton Newman. On today’s episode we get into Alex’s federal plea hearing and how it’s just one step in his overall goal, which is likely to serve out his time in federal prison. Also on the show, we talk about how Cory Fleming is not as sorry as he seemed. Not only is Alex Murdaugh up to his usual trickery, but Cory Fleming — the man who has twice gone in front of a judge to cry about how remorseful he is and how undeserving he is of mercy — is already trying to get out of his state sentence. Anyway, we’re dedicating today’s episode to listener Trista from Mount Pleasant aka @tristathebarista on Instagram. Thank you so much, Trista, for spreading so much sunshine! The world needs more people as sweet and kind as you are. We now offer ad-free listening on Apple Podcast through a subscription to Luna Shark Plus on the Apple Podcasts App. And this episode is a bit longer for Luna Shark Premium Members who get an extra 45 minutes on Judge Gergel, a new documentary that you may or may not have seen, and what we hear went down at CrimeCon this past weekend. Luna Shark Premium Members also get access to searchable case files, written articles with documents, case photos, episode videos and exclusive live experiences with our hosts on lunasharkmedia.com, Discord and YouTube LIVE. CLICK HERE to learn more: https://bit.ly/3BdUtOE. Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland — unpack the seven hours in hearings that were held last week for South Carolina’s “Unholy Trinity” Alex Murdaugh, Cory Fleming and Russell Laffitte. Judge Clifton Newman and S.C. Prosecutor Creighton Waters show the federal government that they’re not playing games. Plus will Alex go through with his plan to plead guilty in front of U.S. District Court Judge Richard Gergel now that he has a state trial date? Cory Fleming was sentenced to 10 years for the Satterfield heist and 10 years for what he did to Pamela Pinckney. He’ll ultimately serve less than 14 years for everything but this is still so much more than anyone thought he’d get … including Cory and his team. Alex Murdaugh was assigned his state court trial date, which interferes with his strategy of getting into federal prison. And the South Carolina Justice System made it CLEAR they weren’t playing the federal government’s games. Needless to say, Liz, Eric and Mandy could NOT WAIT to record this week’s episode because of how much there was to talk about.  Luna Shark Premium members get some special conversations about trends in criminal sentencing and the jury tampering in which EB has entered the fray on behalf of 4 jurors. Premium members get our full discussions about the topics and even more content on lunasharkmedia.com. Attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin have gone even lower in their quest to get convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh a new trial. This time by blowing up the career of Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill. True Sunlight Podcast Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland — discuss whether the accusations against Becky amount to jury-tampering, as well as the chances that one of Dick and Jim’s strategies might actually work. On today’s episode we break down Dick Harpootlian’s and Jim Griffin’s latest strategy — a motion for a new trial, which they’re basing on juror allegations that Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill tampered with the jury that found Alex guilty of murdering Maggie and Paul. We cover a lot of ground in this episode — including what a clerk of court does, what the accusations against Becky look like and whether we think this might be the one time Dick and Jim see a win. For premium members, we’ve included a conversation about what it was like working with Becky Hill during the murder trial last winter and our observations about her behavior. For enhanced episodes with additional content, virtual happy hours with our hosts, articles, documents and more, consider joining our Luna Shark Premium Membership community to help us SHINE THE SUNLIGHT! Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland have a field day unpacking all the nonsense from The Fall of the House of Murdaugh, Fox Nation’s three-part series told from Alex Murdaugh’s and Buster Murdaugh’s perspectives. From Buster’s claims about worrying the “real killers” are still out there to Alex’s jailhouse diary to straight-up lies about what happened the night of the boat crash, the docu-series is yet another horrible idea from lawyers Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, who can’t seem to stop doubling-down. Last week was jam-packed with even more nonsense from the Murdaugh camp — both good and bad.  One good thing that came out of last week was that the South Carolina Department of Corrections announced its prosecution of Alex for violating two prison rules. One rule was broken when he read his so-called diary over the phone so Jim Griffin could record it and give it to Fox Nation. The second rule was broken when Alex used another inmate’s code to make phone calls. Anyway, obviously Liz, Eric and I had a lot to say about ALL of these things. Let’s get into it! Just when all hope seemed to be lost on the justice front, South Carolina prosecutor Creighton Waters comes to the rescue by NOT holding back in telling the Court how former attorney Cory Fleming helped his best friend, Alex Murdaugh, steal money. Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland — break down what happened in the courtroom during Cory’s guilty plea last week, including how the mood shifted considerably when it became clear that Creighton wasn’t going to let Cory off the hook. Plus, they discuss Alex’s alleged plan to plead guilty and Russell Laffitte’s new pre-prison look. Mandy Matney's new book Blood On Their Hands is available in book stores near you on November 14th! Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland consider whether more prison time will be seen as a “tar and feathering” for Alex Murdaugh co-conspirator Cory Fleming and what juicy new information might come out of a trial. Mid-episode, the three get some BREAKING NEWS that Cory’s reckoning might be coming sooner rather than later.  Plus, a discussion on whether any money will be left for Alex Murdaugh’s victims and a look at the disturbing police raid of a newspaper in Kansas. And at the end, we are treated to special a guest appearance from an especially pesky 11-year old girl who saw something wrong with the system and is doing something about it. The full interview will be live for Luna Shark Premium members next week! And tune in this Wednesday when we broadcast (assuming we're given the greenlight) Cory Fleming's status hearing LIVE from Kingstree, SC for all 'Soak Up The Sun' Luna Shark Premium Members. Former attorney Cory Fleming will serve 46 months in federal prison and pay $102,221 in restitution for his involvement in the scheme to steal millions from the Satterfield family. Moments after Judge Richard Gergel announced his sentence on August 15, Fleming voluntarily surrendered and was escorted out of the U.S. District Court in Charleston by U.S. Marshals. He requested to serve his time at FCI Jesup–a medium security prison in Georgia. It has not been decided where he will be sent. Co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and Eric Bland sat down after court today to spill all the tea. Plus a big announcement from soon-to-be-published author, Mandy Matney. If all goes according to plan, Liz and Mandy will be live-tweeting from the federal courthouse.  On today’s episode we talk about the drama leading up to the hearing. We also discuss Cory Fleming’s upcoming sentencing on his single federal charge and why we think California has the right idea on what should happen after an attorney is accused of stealing millions from his clients. True Sunlight co-hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell— and everyone’s favorite attorney Eric Bland — talk about the latest fraud in the Lowcountry, what Al Capone has to do with the Murdaugh case and the very big punch Eric and his law partner are planning to lob back at Alex Murdaugh’s attorneys, Dick Harpootlian and JIm Griffin. On today’s episode, we started out by talking about a Beaufort woman who allegedly used Sandy Smith and her efforts to get answers about Stephen’s death as a way to defraud people out of money. It’s a really bizarre story but one that unfortunately has become familiar to us in the past two years with people attaching themselves to the Murdaugh case in self-serving ways. But also it reminded us of Alex Murdaugh himself. This woman was able to leverage her power and position in the community as a way to allegedly steal money that was meant to go to people in need or toward causes like Sandy’s. Liz and Mandy's former co-workers Delayna Earley and Mike McCombs investigated this case. You can read more about it on The Island News’ website.  Liz, Eric and Mandy tackle a number of topics today, including our continued concern over the federal government’s role in the Murdaugh case and whether it’s just a way to contain and manage any investigations into whatever it is that Alex and his co-conspirators were into in the Lowcountry. Also, Eric shared a bit a news about what he and his law partner plan to do next in their battle with Dick and Jim. It’s been another week full of twists and turns in the Alex Murdaugh story. With each new development in this case, we’re getting to see the inner workings of the justice system and how it just simply works better for certain people. The first plea deal has been struck in Alex Murdaugh’s web of crime and corruption. Former attorney Cory Fleming, who was Murdaugh’s best friend — and godfather to Buster Murdaugh — has agreed to cooperate with the federal government and provide information in exchange for leniency. Murdaugh Murders Podcast hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and everyone’s favorite attorney Eric Bland — discuss the latest in the Murdaugh Murders saga, as well as how clients can protect themselves from lawyers like Alex and Cory. We’re asking people — specifically those who have had cases with PMPED and other related law firms — to request copies of their files and to CHECK their disbursement sheets and expense sheets to see if there’s anything questionable on there. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands and at Luna Shark that’s what we’re all about. Let’s get into it! Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin are at it again! Murdaugh Murders Podcast hosts Mandy Matney, Liz Farrell and everyone’s favorite attorney Eric Bland — talk about the latest nonsense from Alex Murdaugh’s camp and why the South Carolina Supreme Court seems to be allowing his attorneys to use the court system to exact personal revenge against Eric and the Satterfield family. But is something else happening here too? Mandy Matney, Eric Bland and Liz Farrell talk about lessons learned at the recent victims’ rally in Columbia, South Carolina; the latest ruling against Alex Murdaugh and his attempts to take money away from victims; and the problems with legislator-attorneys. In today's episode we dive deeper into a topic that’s always on our mind: Victims' rights. And not just victims’ rights but how our Justice system treats victims across the board. Which is not good.  Over the past few years, we've heard story after story about how victims have been disregarded, not listened to and flat out ignored.  It’s disheartening and it needs to change.  Eric and Mandy were recently at the annual Victims Rally on the Statehouse steps. It was yet another reminder of how important it is that we all work together, make more noise about the things we see that are wrong and do everything we can to empower victims.  Without victim empowerment, the system doesn’t stand a chance at changing.  Now, let’s get into it … Find us on social media: Twitter.com/mandymatney - Twitter.com/elizfarrell - Twitter.com/theericbland https://www.facebook.com/cupofjustice/ YouTube Please consider sharing your support by leaving a review on Apple at the following link: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cup-of-justice/id1668668400 *The views expressed on the Cup of Justice bonus episodes do not constitute legal advice. Even from prison, convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh manages to further traumatize his victims. This time it’s the Satterfield family. On today’s episode of Cup of Justice we talk about one of the most upsetting things to have happened since Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life in March. Murdaugh Murders Podcast co-hosts Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell — and everyone’s favorite attorney Eric Bland — discuss Murdaugh’s admission that he lied about how Gloria Satterfield died and what that means, and what it DOESN’T mean, for the case. They also delve into male egotism, prison romance and why Jim Griffin and Dick Harpootlian might still be slumming it. Last week, Alex filed a response to the federal case that was filed against him by one of the two insurance companies in the settlement that was supposed to go to the Satterfield family — which totalled $4.3 million. In that filing he admitted to lying about the dogs tripping Gloria. The fallout from that was the suggestion that the Satterfield family might have to pay back the money they received as a result of Alex’s admitted legal malpractice and the alleged legal malpractice of the family’s attorney at the time, Alex’s best friend Cory Fleming. In other words, the solution to Alex’s admitted crime — in his and his supporters’ eyes — is for Nautilus to go after the family who was swindled by him. Because our co-host Eric Bland and his partner Ronnie Richter are the ones who helped the Satterfield family be made whole, you better believe Eric was fired up in this episode. There’s always something to talk about with him … let’s get into it! It's so much fun watching the good old boys panic because they've finally been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

The question shouldn’t be “why did she stay”, the question should be “why didn’t he stop abusing her?”

Great talk with Sheryl! I'm glad to hear someone else say what I've been thinking....so many parallels with the former president. Also, Bone Valley is just as good as Sheryl described. The injustice in Leo's case is maddening. ☹️

"Sandy deserved to be able to grieve without media", says Eric Bland, while Mandy & Liz murmur their approval 🙄 But the whole shebang was video recorded by a private videographer to which Sandy has full rights (and will sell) while Mandy shares pictures. All of you are incredibly transparent and a perfect example of what NOT to be. PS I'm just wondering if I'm one of the bots and paid trolls that Mandy & Liz is speaking of? Because I'm very real and I think it's not wise to be speaking of or inciting violence towards any person. Im not surprised by the behaviour,, You both are known for it,, but it is very surprising the lawyer sitting beside you allowed it and it wasn't edited out. Ashlee Satterfield - Mcc.

DH gives me the creeps, I bet he has some murky secrets he wants to keep. The fact that he is honoured to represent a man who has admitted stealing from grieving parents, children and from a paraplegic tells me all I need to know about him. No morals, no integrity.

the state made a big mistake asking him over and over about the money he stole. it gave him multiple chances to state he was wrong and say he is sorry. all this did is make it easier for jurors to say yes he's a snake in the grass but that doesn't make him a murderer.
