Tactics for dealing with a narcissist that support your mental health
At only 23-years-old, I've met a handful of narcissists that have impacted me, and currently impact me, in very different ways. These people need to be seen for who they really are. I figured, if I am dealing with narcissism regularly, then other people are too.
So, that's why I recorded this Episode to give you tactics and tips for how to manage the narcissist in your life. This person could be in the workplace, at home, or your significant other.
If you take anything out of Episode 14, I want you to know that FINDING A SUPPORT SYSTEM is massively important to surviving narcissism without damaging your mental/emotional health.

What I cover in this episode of KD's Journey:
What you should consider when researching potential employers
Separating the “nice-to-haves” versus the necessities
My own sour work experience
Thinking strategically of your goals, short-term and long-term
Fresh out of college, I was on the hunt for a job that would put my degree to work. I got exactly what I wanted and landed in a job that didn’t align with my values at all. I settled and opened myself up to a sour work experience. What did I do?
I quit without having a backup.
I bartended for a while and found a side of myself I didn’t know existed. It’s as though I needed to make that change and experience the harsh realities of life to find who I wanted to be and what goals I should craft to get me there.

What I cover in this Episode of KD's Journey:
What patience, happiness, & faith means
The value of meditation
Identifying easy-to-reach goals
Eliminating sour life experiences
Lissa Nicolette is a New York State native who took off to California to raise her son, navigate trying medical challenges, finding how to live life to its fullest, and exploring the world of culinary art.
Sometimes you can go all day without realizing that you didn’t do anything for yourself. When you start needing that time for yourself, you have to reposition your life in order to break those bad habits of people pleasing.
Take a listen!
What I cover in this Episode of KD's Journey:
The power of saying less
Seeking out the most powerful person in the room
Learning more about why you may talk a little too much
Knowing when you need to reset and recharge
The most quiet person in the room holds the most power.
I've really taken a good look at how I communicate and I've found some frustration on the subject of just saying way too much.
Anthony Mucurio and I call it "fire hosing" when you just continue talking on and on, stringing together sentences that really stop making sense after awhile.
Could you have said something in 1 minute instead of 20 minutes?
Are you listening when the other person speaks?
Do you talk OVER your friends or frequently cut people off?
Or does social anxiety prompt you to continue talking in order to fill up the awkward spaces with pointless conversation?

I met Sarah Crowley at a GoRuck Basic event back in March.
Since then, Sarah and I have found a variety of similarities between ourselves and the lives we live.
Sarah, also the host of her own Podcast, Tombabe, encapsulates what it means to find a balance of both the masculine and feminine energies.
In addition to sharing her journey on exploring what these energies are and how to best channel them, Sarah also discusses the confusion brought on in a life after college athletics.
Having gone to a Division I lacrosse school, University of Massachusetts - Amherst, Sarah endured the ups and downs of college athletics and the intensity of playing at a higher level.
Sarah then went on to play professional lacrosse in the year following her graduation from UMass Amherst.
Maybe you’re a freshman going into your first year of #college athletics, or maybe you’re a post-grad looking to find some clarity.

Let me answer some questions you might have before listening, here in the show notes.
Why Listen?
You will gain an understanding of what David Brooks calls "The Valley" and what it means to be on the "Second Mountain" of life. I've taken these insights and applied them to my own life, in hopes that you are able to do the same. You can purchase his book, here.
Topics Covered?
Understanding what "The Valley" is
Identifying the process of realizing if you're in The Valley or not
Discussing the purpose of life and the Telos Crisis
The Valley on an Individual Level and on a Societal Level
Four Social Crises: Loneliness, Distrust, Meaning, Tribalism
Recognizing the good that comes out of The Valley
Any Actionable Takeaways?
Ted Hughes once said that we often find that the worst moments to undergo, are some of the best moments to remember. Keep in mind that if you're in the valley, or haven't experienced it yet, that it's happening for a reason - you're strong enough to handle it - and you'll grow in the process.
