Budgie and Lol and female drummers we have known. Her alter ego "Kate Nails, from The Face" got to see Culture club at the Palladium for free! A lucky life. Because of clubs and cool kids and the Beastie Boys. Concorde stories. The tailor on the plane in London measured you for your suit that was presented to you on arrival in Hong Kong! Lol and Budgie play the Utah rodeo - a dust bowl of outsiders. The "Lush Lounge" provided libations as did the aptly named "Eat Your Heart Out" mixing up buckets of cocktails on the road. Budgie passed the drinks across the kit in Colorado. Lol had 23 shows in Australia and life seemed just like the Blues Brothers.  Sorry about the show! The banshees play the Whisky a Go Go - why are people wearing bin liners (trash bags) in the heat? Our second home was the USA..." it’s been the ruin of many a poor boy" and I, I know am one.
IT makes no sense, Budgie and Lol find out, if you don't like music because it's like not breathing! When you discover the passion and know what you want to do with your life is mostly a teen thing. Hard to find stuff is what makes you want to do it more the more obscure the better But don't try too hard to be different. You only need three chords and the truth is true even in skateboarding. You need a good crew whatever you do. Lol and Budgie discover there are a lot of similarities, for instance the stairwell is a creative place. The drums are definitely the drama in the songs with the lyric. Liberated cymbals! The goldmine that was Ray Man's store.CONNECT WITH US:Curious Creatures:Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.comFacebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialTwitter: @curecreaturesInstagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialLol Tolhurst: Website: https://loltolhurst.comFacebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie: Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whooInstagram: @budgie646Mason Silva: Instagram: @masonsilva Curious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. In which Budgie and Lol discover they were a little scared of normal. We knew what we didn’t want to sound like, but loved the Ramones/the Clash/Bowie/Buzzcocks and T-Rex. Music was the future there were no niceties for us. A cup of tea and potato for two was it! Punk put different people in the spotlight, something was happening. Then the fairytale evaporated and they had to find out who they were.  You have to be destroyed in the fire to come out anew.  Budgie and Lol ricocheted around the world. The prodigal sons of post punk come home.CONNECT WITH US:Curious Creatures:Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.comFacebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialTwitter: @curecreaturesInstagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialLol Tolhurst: Website: https://loltolhurst.comFacebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie: Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whooInstagram: @budgie646 Curious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. In which Budgie and Lol reveal it all started at the fairgrounds of England. Like a Stephen King novel? The teddy boys, rockers and… girls! Pink Floyd played our bowling alley! Post war England was grim and our true education was punk. Out of the depression we escaped through music. Even the Partridge family! Budgie learns stagecraft in his secret life. Lol stays up all night at Robert's. Desperation and osmosis drove us on. To where? Hear the answer in Part 2 next week! Curious Creatures:Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.comFacebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialTwitter: @curecreaturesInstagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialLol Tolhurst: Website: https://loltolhurst.comFacebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie: Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whooInstagram: @budgie646 Curious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. In which Budgie goes to the Florida keys with the Banshees and Sioux only has a flashlight for her light show!  Sometimes the best shows are when nobody is there. Lol was scared in Denver on Halloween by Fred Munster! A misty lake in Finland never gets dark for Lol and the Cure.  Budgie feels the heat with Love and Rockets in Arizona . It's Hot, hot, hot with Lol in Texas. Those British boys abroad! From hysteria in Newcastle to perfect calm in Tokyo. Lol, and Budgie have seen it all. Gangplanks and Freud. Beatlemania and Secret security. Budgie and Lol hear about Tim's first memory of Little Jimmy Osmond at 6 years old and then Buzzcocks in 1978 at ten years old. He got let in the back door of clubs went on stage in the late 80's doing his thing and nobody has told him to get off yet. The sun came out in Manchester and everyone started dancing! Tim ended up In Los Angeles as part of his childhood fantasy. We discuss destruction-touring and making records. On  Head on the Door Lol nearly set the studio alight with model racing cars. Out of chaos Budgie makes Dear Prudence. Tim lived as the Rolling Stones making Exile on Main Street. Tim gets a editor and writes a great memoir and carried on writing. Tim gets Budgie to agree to let him use his tweets to help people affected by Covid. We tell Tim he's saved music. Good man. Later on they reveal that punk produced quite a few characters as it was such a time of social change. That's why we remember them. And if Budgie doesn't know them Lol does! For more info about topics discussed by Lol, Budgie and Tim in this week’s episode, visit us online at https://curiouscreaturespodcast.com/Curious Creatures:Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.comFacebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialTwitter: @curecreaturesInstagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialLol Tolhurst: Facebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie: Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whooInstagram: @budgie646Tim Burgess:Facebook: @timburgessmusic, @thecharlatansTwitter: @Tim_Burgess, @LlSTENlNG_PARTYInstagram: @thecharlatans, @ogenesisrecordsCurious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. Religion

Religion

2021-10-2820:35

Roped into a cult at birth. Weddings ( and funerals) were an early source of income for Lol. The Latin mass was mysterious to us ! At the advent of the folk mass, our faith lapsed but the guilt remains, however. Confession is not necessarily good for the soul if you can be revealed! Lols is not a fan of organized religion. At 14 it all changed. Budgie was powered away for decades until at 38 he finally got a handle on his own feelings. Budgie surmised it's a very strange theatrical show they run at the church. But something in the past has helped the present. Kicking against the restrictions. Running away to join the circus. Anti-establishment by virtue of what we experienced as children. We are the stiff upper lip of the post-war British combined with the fire and brimstone of the straight jacket of religion made punk inevitable. For more info about topics discussed by Lol, Budgie in this week’s episode, visit us online at https://curiouscreaturespodcast.com/Connect With Us: Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.com Facebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficial Twitter: @curecreatures Instagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficial Lol Tolhurst:Website: https://loltolhurst.comFacebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie:Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whoo Instagram: @budgie646 Curious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. Terri Nunn (Berlin) joins Lol and Budgie this week on Curious Creatures. Lol and Budgie discover that the journey is half the battle. The three discuss whether or not musicians have social issues, and if music is the bridge (apparently it’s good for your heart). Lol, Budgie and Terri wonder if the magic of music lasts forever. Do kids listen to and draw their own inspiration from their parents’ music now? Terri talks about having the opportunity to go back and reassure her younger self that it’s all going to be ok. Later on Lol and Budgie get into drum machines and decide they are ok - AND they’re not afraid of them! For more info about topics discussed by Lol, Budgie and Terri in this week’s episode, visit us online at https://curiouscreaturespodcast.com/Socials:Website: https://curiouscreaturespodcast.comFacebook: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialTwitter: @curecreaturesInstagram: @CuriousCreaturesOfficialLol Tolhurst: Facebook: @officialloltolhurst Twitter: @LolTolhurst Instagram: @lol.tolhurst Budgie: Facebook: @budgieofficial Twitter: @TuWhit2whoo Instagram: @budgie646Berlin:Facebook: @berlinofficialbandTwitter: @realterrinunnInstagram: @berlinofficialband Curious Creatures is a partner of the Double Elvis podcast network. Thank you for an excellent show. Made me feel like a teen again. Hard for this generation to understand what music meant to us.
