Layleen "Xtravaganza" Polanco was a 27-year-old trans woman from New York who was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment in April 2019 and sent to Rikers Island, an all men's prison. During her imprisonment she was placed in solitary confinement, despite having epilepsy. In June, Layleen was found unresponsive in her cell and was later pronounced dead.
