Description

This podcast is based around my rules for being a kickass adult. Over the past 50 years, I have used myself as a guinea pig, of sorts, testing these rules out. We will discuss the ones that worked, and should be carved into stone, as well as the ones I threw to the side. I am all about making us all better humans, even if it is at my own expense. Plan to laugh, cry, and cringe as I go over Dad's Rules, relationships, and interview people, that are truly living a kickass life in every way. So, get off my lawn and live your kickass life!!!

In this episode, Kevin and Melissa Belzer talk about some of the things that have happened in their lives since the previous episode. They discuss their Halloween experience, daylight savings time change, and a recent series at their church. They then focus on the concept of integrity and how it means being the same person in private as you are in public. Integrity is being the same person in private as in public, and it requires running from temptation. An example of integrity is a British prisoner of war who kept his promise to return after getting permission to see his dying mother. Lying does not align with integrity. The show discusses the importance of integrity in relationships and shares two Reddit stories where someone lacked integrity and their relationship ended because of it. The first story is about a man who had to break up with his girlfriend because she was jealous of his lifelong friend. The second story is about a couple whose marriage was damaged because the wife gave away the husband's beloved dog without his knowledge. In episode 220, I start by talking about my recent experiences at business conferences. I focused on finding one thing from each conference that I could implement into my business, and share some of the things I learned. I also talks about the importance of being picky about which conferences to attend and the expenses involved. I share my key takeaways from each event, highlighting the importance of networking and the value of learning from successful individuals. Next, I reflect on the idea of not seeing failures as permanent, but as opportunities for growth and resetting along with my thoughts of where I see things going in the economy and what jobs to focus on.Next, I discuss some recent reads and the top 5 albums I have listened to recently. Finally, I share what is next for Dad's Rules and what we have planned for upcoming episodes. If you like the episode, please like, share, comment and leave feedback. Episode 219 is a discussion about the topics of marriage and divorce. We have personal experience with family and friends who have gotten divorced and will share our feelings on that. Melissa and Kevin have been married for 33 years. They talk about the importance of protecting a marriage, such as not being alone with a member of the opposite sex and seeking help from the church and community, rather than giving up and getting a divorce. They also mention that infidelity and abuse are valid reasons for divorce, but otherwise, it is important to try to salvage the marriage. We explain that the problem with many marriages is that people do not think about all or many potential issues before getting married. We suggest having conversations about important topics, such as religion and politics, before marriage. We also discuss the concept of sacrifice, and how it is important in a successful marriage. We end by giving our insight into a successful marriage is with tips and tricks for a successful relationship. Some tips include: communication, forgiveness, sacrificing temporary urges for long-term happiness, not focusing on faults, and always looking for the good in your partner. On Episode 218, I am at a business conference at Talking Stick Resort. I decided not to go to any conferences this year unless they were going to be impactful and helpful to his business and life. I go into detail about how he only looks for one big nugget of information from a conference and applies it to his business. I talk about receiving an award and attending a speaking panel at the conference. I recap his day and the valuable information he learned from talking to top producing agents. I attended a conference for real estate agents, where they discussed industry trends and strategies for getting clients. I met some agents he had heard of but not met before, and had a fun dinner. I gave away his drink card to a fellow agent and is now heading home. I feel like he already got a valuable piece of information from one of the agents he spoke to. I encourage people in other trades or businesses to attend conferences to improve their business. If you like the episode, please like, share, comment and leave feedback. The second question asks about their When people working together on a business or other project are interrupted, they often need to regroup and refocus on their priorities and goals. It's important to have a set schedule and prioritize tasks, but it's also important to be flexible and adaptable when necessary. Let's try this again. Last week, this episode had major technical issues. Rather than leave it up, we decided to edit it again and release it with some extended footage from the cave.In this episode of Dad's Rules, Kevin and his special guest Melissa discuss their recent visit to Niagara Cave, a mile-long underground cave system discovered in 1924 on a farmer's property in Minnesota. They talk about the history of the cave, the steps and physical requirements needed to tour it, and the cool features and formations found inside. The tour guides are knowledgeable and offer interesting factoids about the cave, and the temperature inside stays a constant 48 degrees. The cave is a wet The Niagara Cave in Harmony, Minnesota is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful underground formations. The cave was discovered in 1924 and was opened for tourism in 1934 after being developed and mapped. The tour takes visitors through a variety of formations including stalactites and stalagmites, and even a wedding chapel. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs and the opportunity to mine for gemstones. The cave is rated one of the top ten caves in the US and: Niagara Cave is known for its tall and narrow layout, making it more like a long hallway. One unique feature found in the cave are stalactites, which are formed when water drips down and deposits minerals on the walls. Another rare feature in the cave are helictites, which are twisted and curvy formations that are believed to have been caused by collision of two water streams. The cave also has formations with a whitish color, which could exhibit fluorescence and phosphorescence. If you like the episode, please like, share, comment and leave feedback.
