Drawing or painting from life is your best choice for improving the authenticity of your art work.
After taking photos to use as possible inspiration for your art work sit down and go through them. Look for visual interest in the colors, textures, shapes and shadows. Pay particular attention to the light and time of day. The more you look at the composition of your images the better you will become at choosing good ones and taking effective photos as well.
Start your practice of looking for effective compositions every day wherever you are. Capture those potential art works with your phone camera. Hear more about analyzing your images tomorrow.
Next time you begin a painting consider toning the ground. This technique helps you to see color more accurately.
