After 13 or so years, I’ve reached the end. It’s time to step aside and let the next generation continue talking about Disney. It’s been a great ride and I’ve enjoyed it.
This is a look at Disneys brand and why it’s successful.
Walt Disney hired Phil Smith as the first employee of the resort, and he lived on Walt Disney Worlds property. Here’s his story.
I have some thoughts and observations from recent reports coming from the Disney company which I share here.
The test cruises were run on the galactic starcruiser, so now we know what it’s like. I’ve got some thoughts about how it looks and what’s there…behind a very expensive paywall. *Picture is from the Nerdist
I’ve got the proverbial axe to grind. I’m troubled by a lot of what I’m seeing. And I have so many questions about what Disney is doing and the future of the theme parks.
On todays show, I start by talking about the recent earnings call. And then I go on to talk about the crossroads, which recently closed.
I’m talking about the new app, the changes to annual passes, and more!
That’s a “world view.” I address his work and how it intersected with politics.
My mom handed me a photo album from 2008. I reminisce about the trip.
This episode focuses on central laundry at Walt Disney world. It’s a little unusual but there’s a story here of course!
In what now is annual tradition, here’s a commencement address for newly minted graduates!
I found an old diary I had, in which I recorded a trip to Disney in the 70s. I share what 11-year-old me wrote about the trip.
Disney has announced a series of moves that would indicate a very different future for disney parks. Fast pass, annual passes, park hopping, reservations, magic bands, and even the magical express provide some clues. I’m talking about it. What are your thoughts? Email me, tweet me, or drop a voice message
I’ve got a few things to talk about; a collection of things that are on my mind right now.
I happened to be in Orlando a week or so ago, and took a short drive around property. It was interesting to say the least, so I talk about it. I’m also introducing a new segment I’m calling “one little spark” as kind of a call to action for things we can do to be more engaged in societal issues.
This episode is an update on some of the news around the Walt Disney company. Espn, disneys entertainment business and theme parks all get a nod. And I play an interview with Josh D’amaro which is from the US Travel Association. Listen to the Dow Report here: https://www.ustravel.org/toolkit/dow-report
Thank you for listening. The music included in this episode is copyright of disney, and I sincerely hope they don’t mind its use in this context. The obituary I wrote: http://disneyworldpodcast.net/pete/
I’m going to take a break from podcasting for a while. Consider it like I’m temporarily closed, much like the resort. I tell you about my decision.
I took an opportunity to pass by the resort because I wanted to see for myself what it looked like...it was surreal almost like it came from Stephen King’s The Stand. So I talk about what I saw, and have some updates on what’s going on.  Finally, I play the audio from the 1987 resort tv loop, for your enjoyment.
