Things in the world have again gotten interesting and I feel a need to step away from podcasting for a short time. --- Send in a voice message:
There was this interesting shop along Main Street in both Disneyland and in Walt Disney world which was something of a magic shop. I talk about it. --- Send in a voice message:
Disney has announced a series of moves that would indicate a very different future for disney parks. Fast pass, annual passes, park hopping, reservations, magic bands, and even the magical express provide some clues. I’m talking about it. What are your thoughts? Email me, tweet me, or drop a voice message --- Send in a voice message:
Today, I present to you the audio from the current show, minus the speaking part at the end. I explain what’s up with that. --- Send in a voice message:
I present to you the music from spectromagic, along with a little bit of the parades history. I also report on a rumor about the carousel of progress. --- Send in a voice message:
Abigail Disney (granddaughter of Walt’s brother, Roy) has been in the news recently as a critic of the Disney Company.  I wanted to discuss some of her comments and expand on them a bit with my own thoughts. This podcast contains clips from "The Business" which is hosted by KCRW.  They have a great show, and I encourage you to check out their work.  Specifically, the two episodes with Abigail Disney are here.  Part 1:  Part2: --- Send in a voice message:
News comes at us quickly these days as disney adapts to a new normal. I talk about a number of things that caught my attention over the last little while --- Send in a voice message:
This is a retrospective of the epcot pavilion The Living Seas. It opened a few years after epcot, but it was a marvel of sorts and fit in thematically with the nature of epcot in that part of future world. I talk about the history and how it became what it is today. --- Send in a voice message:
I’ve got a few things to talk about; a collection of things that are on my mind right now. --- Send in a voice message:
Walt Disney had a plan for urban design - and a central theme was how to get people around his city of tomorrow.  He envisioned monorails for longer trips, and a peoplemover for local circuits.  The WED designers laid out plans for both, and prototyped the people mover in DIsneyLand before it opened in Florida.  It is a clever and innovative means of transportation that never seemed to catch on.  I talk about it, and play the audio tracks that were on the attraction over the years. --- Send in a voice message:
Disney lays off 28,000. The pandemic rages on. Changes are coming to movies and movie distribution. It’s the end of the NBA bubble. Nah. There isn’t much to talk about at all. --- Send in a voice message:
This is a look back at a fun attraction that existed in the wonders of life. It was film, multi media, and audio animatronics assembled in a theater to tell a story. --- Send in a voice message:
This podcast gives a brief history to pressed pennies at Disney parks, and I talk about my iOS app for finding and collecting pressed pennies. --- Send in a voice message:
I happened to be in Orlando a week or so ago, and took a short drive around property. It was interesting to say the least, so I talk about it. I’m also introducing a new segment I’m calling “one little spark” as kind of a call to action for things we can do to be more engaged in societal issues. --- Send in a voice message:
This episode is an update on some of the news around the Walt Disney company. Espn, disneys entertainment business and theme parks all get a nod. And I play an interview with Josh D’amaro which is from the US Travel Association. Listen to the Dow Report here: --- Send in a voice message:
Thank you for listening. The music included in this episode is copyright of disney, and I sincerely hope they don’t mind its use in this context. The obituary I wrote: --- Send in a voice message:
Disney has some good going on. But this virus? It’s dangerous and returning to a theme park doesn’t seem like a winning idea. --- Send in a voice message:
A kind of, sort of commencement speech from dave. --- Send in a voice message:
I’m going to take a break from podcasting for a while. Consider it like I’m temporarily closed, much like the resort. I tell you about my decision. --- Send in a voice message:
I gave up my annual pass. And at the moment, things are looking not-so-rosy for theme parks in the immediate future - because there’s still a lot of uncertainty.  I listened in to the 2Q earnings call, and have something to say about what I heard. And of course, I’ve got some more thoughts about it. Plus I hit on a couple of news items that are a little less serious.  Lost (& Found) episode #32 discovery island --- Send in a voice message:
