Description

Hi, i'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends!
I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest dj's around at the time, doing a couple of sets over in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelleys, Institute and Coast 2 Coast.
After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!!
Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought i'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know.....

Pt II continues the night with tracks from the Kenny Ken, Dr S Gachet & Darren Jay sets.
AWOL - A Way Of Life was started in 1992 at The Paradise Club, Islington North London, by World Dance founders Jay & Chris. The parties were legendary for dj's playing 2-hour sets and some going up until midday on Sundays with Dj's like Randall, Dr S Gachet, Darren Jay, Fabio, Hype and also Micky Finn & Kenny Kenn, who have been involved from day 1. For this set, i've taken tracks played on the 29th August, 1992 by DJ's Swan-e, Randall (R.I.P.) & Micky Finn.
The final part of the Digging Deeper Series continues into the last weeks of The Eclipse. I hope you have enjoyed the selections, most of which have been away from the usual tracks heard in oldskool sets.
Part IX continues into mid 1992 with more underplayed bangers alongside a few more well-known personal faves........
Pt VIII takes us further into the early months of 1992...................
Pt VII continues the journey at the end of 1991 and goes into 1992........
This week we lost one of the most talented & beloved Jungle DJs. DJ Randall was one of the UK circuit's most accomplished DJs playing week-in, week-out across the country at all of the top clubs and big raves. His residency at AWOL @ The Paradise Club, though, is one he may be most remembered for, playing upfront Breakbeat & Jungle, with an amazing consistency. I have taken the tracks from his Live In London 93 Vol 4 tapes and rearranged them into a new mix, for your pleasure. RIEP Randall McNeil, you are forever in our hearts..................
Part VI takes us towards the end of 1991, once again the lesser played gems with a sprinkle of more well known tracks in.
Part V continues through the lesser played gems in 1991 at The Eclipse, Coventry.
Part IV continues the journey of lesser played gems with a few bigger, well known tracks mixed in, from 1991 at The Eclipse.
Part III continues with early 1991 sounds, once again, the gems in the sets, sprinkled with a few big tunes......
Off-shoot from City Beat Records, XL Recordings was launched in 1989 by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes to release rave and dance music. The label is still going today, releasing across all genres. For this mix, I've taken tracks from the hardcore rave tracks 1991 going into 1992.....

Some of the biggest and best DJs from across the country and beyond graced the decks, week in week out, alongside some awesome local talent. These mixes will take some lesser played tracks, with a sprinkle of more well known ones. Pt I focuses on tracks played in the early weeks & months........
