Test of Possessions

The Pursuit of God by A. W. TozerChapter 2 - The Blessedness of Possessing NothingThis New Testament principle of the spiritual life finds its best illustration in the Old Testament story of Abraham and Isaac. Genesis 22:1-19Abraham’s love for Isaac threatened to usurp God from the throne of Abraham’s heart.God only wanted to remove Isaac from the temple of Abraham’s heart so that He might reign unchallenged there.Abraham was now a man wholly surrendered, a man utterly obedient, a man who possessed nothing. He had everything – but he possessed nothing! There is the spiritual secret. There is the sweet theology of the heart which can be learned only in the school of renunciation.“Things” had now become external to Abraham; his real treasures were now inwardand eternal.

Knowing God vs. Knowing Answers

Scripture referenced: Job 42:1-6 Then Job replied to the Lord:2 “I know that you can do all things;    no purpose of yours can be thwarted.3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’    Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,    things too wonderful for me to know.4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;    I will question you,    and you shall answer me.’5 My ears had heard of you    but now my eyes have seen you.6 Therefore I despise myself    and repent in dust and ashes.”

Well You're at SAHM

Quote Referenced:“Man’s work, no matter how boring, unpleasant, or difficult, is generally regarded as of more value than women’s. “Equal opportunity” nearly always implies that women want to do what men do, not that men want to do what women do, which indicates that prestige is attached to men’s work but not to women’s. Women’s work, particularly the task assigned by Creation exclusively to women, that of bearing and nurturing children, is regarded not only as of lesser value but even degrading and “animal-like.” This is a hideous distortion of the truth, and an attempt to judge women by the criteria of men, to force them into an alien mold, to rob them of the very gifts that make them what they were meant to be. To subject femininity to the criteria of masculinity is as foolish as it would be to judge meat by the standards of potatoes.”Link to Let Me Be Woman by Elisabeth Elliot: https://amzn.to/4iLmSinAs an Amazon Affiliate, I earn a small commission by you using this link to shop.

Heavenly Bodies

Scripture Referenced: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 Awaiting the New Body 5 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 6 “All right, do with him as you please,” the Lord said to Satan. “But spare his life.” 7 So Satan left the Lord’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot. 8 Job scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery as he sat among the ashes. 9 His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” 10 But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 7:1-11 7 “Is not all human life a struggle?    Our lives are like that of a hired hand,2 like a worker who longs for the shade,    like a servant waiting to be paid.3 I, too, have been assigned months of futility,    long and weary nights of misery.4 Lying in bed, I think, ‘When will it be morning?’    But the night drags on, and I toss till dawn.5 My body is covered with maggots and scabs.    My skin breaks open, oozing with pus. 6 “My days fly faster than a weaver’s shuttle.    They end without hope.7 O God, remember that my life is but a breath,    and I will never again feel happiness.8 You see me now, but not for long.    You will look for me, but I will be gone.9 Just as a cloud dissipates and vanishes,    those who die[a] will not come back.10 They are gone forever from their home—    never to be seen again. 11 “I cannot keep from speaking.    I must express my anguish.    My bitter soul must complain.

Pregnancy Prayers

Scripture Referenced: Mark 11:24  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Philippians 4:6  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 1 Thessalonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing. Jeremiah 33:3  Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 29:12  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

Joy & Contentment

Scripture Referenced: Philippians 4:4-14 4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. 10 How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. 11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. 14 Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.

What is Daybreak 41?

Daybreak 41 signifies the new life that comes from seasons of testing, waiting, seeking, and trusting God. The number 40 is significant in the Bible as we see God test his people time and time again through 40 days, weeks, and years. But what happens on day 41? God shows up in mighty ways and stays true to his promises. If you are in a season of waiting and trusting, remember we can’t get to the rainbow without the rain. Thank you for being here, and I look forward to hearing and sharing #Daybreak41Moments together! ✝️

Tested by Fire Like Gold

Scripture Referenced: 1 Peter 1:3-123 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. 7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.8 You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.10 This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. 11 They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward.12 They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.

All We Need for Enjoyment

Scripture Referenced: “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.”‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.”‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Less & Less

Scripture Referenced: So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.” John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭26‬-‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬
