This episode of Daycare Chronicles 101 is personal, powerful, and full of perspective. I sat down with my husband, Marcus Muhammad, a high school physical education teacher with more than 30 years in education, to talk about what he has seen in our children, our schools, and our families over the years. One statement Marcus made really stayed with me: "Children have not changed. Parenting has changed." That opened the door to a much bigger conversation about the social and emotional needs of children today, parenting, relationships, consistency, accountability, and what educators are seeing inside our schools. I work with children at the very beginning of their journey, during the infant, toddler, and preschool years. Marcus sees them later, as teenagers and young adults. When you put those two perspectives together, you begin to see just how important those early foundations really are. We also talked about our marriage, our faith as Muslims, and the importance of keeping Allah at the center of our lives and our relationship. From early childhood to high school, it all connects. Strong relationships. Consistency. Strong foundations.
In this episode of Daycare Chronicles 101 I sit down with Mrs Diana Rivas for an in depth conversation about what it truly means to operate a nature- based, Reggio Amelia-Inspired early childhood program. We move beyond the beautiful classrooms, natural materials, and carefully arranged environments and talk about the philosophy behind the practice. What does it really mean for the environment to serve as a 3rd teacher? What does child-led learning look like? How do observation, documentation, relationships, intentional environments, and nature become part of the learning process?
What do you do when God calls you to move? In this episode of Daycare Chronicles 101: The provider lounge, I sit down with Ineeze Gainey also known as Childcare Boss 1, owner and director of Children's Playhouse ,CEO of IAG Childcare Consulting, Author and respected leader in early childhood education.
