(shotgun cocking noise) This is just a short blog post to pass the torch to my new show, premiering next Monday, Pilot Season. It'll have it's own page and all that but I wanted to do an audio pass off on the off chance someone listens to this and doesn't listen to the other shows or check the facebook or something. The death of the artist class.  Well, this is the end. Yes, I'm OK, yes I still deal with a lot of this, yes I'm proud of DIV, yes something is coming in it's place, no I don't know how to live and be creative, no I don't know how to adjust my attitude. Thanks to everyone who helped make the show what it was/lended their talents. Briefly: Jon Wolff, Derek Hayes, Ben Crickenburger, Nick Glauber, Kole Ross, Brayton Cameron, Steven Wallet, Zak Rouse, Mike Kitchell, Ryan Green and Lou Fernando. IT'S A METAPHOR Well, here is the big crazy ending to Dead Idea Valhalla. I bring as much back as I can. Thanks a lot to Kole for his help with narration and thanks to everyone who listened the first time and who listened in reruns! Oh, and I'm OK! Sure, in Obama's America. Starting off with some classic hate in this penultimate episode. After that, I talk about pets for a while, including a sad story about my lil buddy Poet. Then a song from my Master Wrench album called From Whence you Came. And finally, a hard hitting interview with one of the biggest musicians in the video game music scene. Don't co op real civil rights images for this! Some fun talk about table top gaming culture, all about the time I met Beard Mountain during a formative college class. Including, appropriately enough, my fessing up to being grossed out by furries. Which I am. Then a fun Metroids song before more Gary on Zak non furry action. This racist monster is my FAVORITE racist monster.  A very special Halloween episode! I hope you like it! A personal favorite of mine. After some talk of the holiday in general, I play a Metroids classic. Then an audio play presented for your consideration. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
This shouldn't be.  I'm back! At least for a time. Inspired by the bathroom at work, a little bit about urinals and male bathroom ettiquette. Then, a song from the much missed Joystick Joy, a band whose live appearances featured one Brayton Cameron. Finally, more relationship talk with Zak Rouse. This man explains how I feel most times.  All right, all right. This is just the apology/retraction/revision of my quittin' episode. Like I said before, we're nearing the end but we've got a few great episodes coming up as well as some sort of announcement as to what I'll be doing next. Until then, enjoy this mini-sode. Just look at it.  Makes you feel alone, huh. It's the beginning of the end! You know the drill: I think I was being a bit of a whiney baby but I was also in a disolving marriage and they were real feelings I was having, so fuck it! There are a couple more episodes before the big finale! I'll be doing another new episode soon where I'll talk a little about what's next. In the middle I have a David Bowie cover and after that, the first a 2nd 3 part series of 88 Lines About, well, Probably about four Women with my friend Zak. Before it gets all existential and horrible, let's have a good fun time with some classic curmudgeonry and Black History Moth.  Here it is! The last episode before I go crazy and talk about quitting the show. From a more well adjusted place, these episodes seem sort of embarrassing. But this is a good fun time. We start out with some articulation about some minor mistakes that musicians have made that have instilled me with ire for life. Then we have a weird number from the last Metroids album, Jean Gray Blues. There are X-men references in this that you can date to specific eras of comics from the early 2000s. Also, the 2nd half has that radio production effect on my voice that I actually like but feels weird in relation to a song this strange production wise. And then a sketch featuring one of my favorite creations, Black History Moth. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
Transit Talez Games! Gamers! I like it, sure, but it's also disgusting! Listen in! Then a song from The Midnite Snax, a little number called At All that I've always been real fond of. I close out this episode with some transit tales, which could almost be it's own podcast. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
These girls are promoting. My favorite thing about Dead Idea Valhalla was when I did shit like this. Inspired by PAX and the idiots behind NOS, I put together this. Enjoy! Special thanks to Nick Glauber for being my Nos Energy. Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4fGqqenQa0 Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
Danger lurks within.  Here it is, the entire Dungeon Mister saga! Based on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8LBpMuSTrQ One of my all time favorite things ever. Not too much to say about this, but I'm a big fan. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download

RUN. This is a goooood ep. The first half, a little bit about my job history contains some fun stories and some awful ones. The middle song, a number called Don't No, comes from a little EP I like quite a bit that, in retrospect, is FULL of anxiety about my doomed marriage! Listening back to it is almost embarrassing given how transparent it is. "The idiot chaos in the center of my heart marked a date on a calendar that I had to follow." Criminy! But the real star of the show is the feral princess to the left here. I don't know why I enjoy it so much, but these fake greatest hits things really tickle me. Here's a little bit of cruelty that isn't going to age that well.  The first bit is something I'm not totally into anymore! I do think it's silly to mourn celebrities, for the most part, but I also realize it's very unkind. If I did this again, I might tone it down a little bit. It does mean that I get to say I wrote a song called Pussystorm USA, however. The song in the middle, officially titled Victim but that I always refer to as Sad Eyes is a favorite, however. And finally, more Dinobite action with Gallagher 3, who has been shitting in the litter box. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
And they called him... The first segment is a tirade about weather that's pretty uninspired, I admit! But it gets better! The song in the middle is from The Midnite Snax, my 2nd rock band in my home town, and a song from my song-a-day project. It's about the character Bub from my favorite George Romero movie, Day of the Dead. The real meat, however, is "Gary Butterfield's Boring Party." I love this bland playlet. I've always been fascinated by people who are fascinated by the truly mundane, and how sad that is. At some point, people just start thinking everything is worth bringing up and it always amazes me. Tommy's Too.  The Sex Trillogy Concludes! Though I guess I talk about sex quite a bit. First, the Tiny Beings Errata, with the fakey Stan Lee voice, who I called Granny Guzzlin' Gary, which is fucking disgusting. In the middle, the only cover The Metroids ever recorded. It's more or less faithful. Then, some more Gallagher 3, because it's not like he's the worst thing I ever made. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download

Save time by having your shirt say this to everyone you'd say it to. Part two of the sex trillogy. Fun little bit in the first half, in the guise of fake deleted scenes. Nothing much to say. In the middle: one of the saddest songs I think I've ever done. Then some stuff about shirts and sex. Solid ep, bro. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
Thigh party and also a great sport! It's the 25th Episode Spectacular! A bit about father's day, sex, and the awakening of sports appreciation in me. Then a song from my Master Wrench record. Finally, a return of the Dinobite, this time starring world famous comedian Gallagher 3. You can find the original episodes of the Dinobite at www.garybutterfield.net Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
Let's all revisit our favorite musical! One of my favorites. This first bit is all about drugs! Spoiler: I'm not that into them. Then comes the title track from the 2nd Metroids album, My Fiction Suit. It's a little quiet in the mix, unfortunately, but it's all OK because... One of my favorite things I did with Dead Idea Valhalla was making it self referencial as hell. In an early episode, I did a short advert for Hobotown the Musical, along with some fakey song titles. I thought it'd be fun to actually write choruses for all of those songs. It was work intensive, but I love it all the same. Subscribe in iTunes | Subscribe in RSS | Direct Download
