For over 50 years, Ozzy entertained the world, first with Black Sabbath and then as a solo artist. Considered one of the Godfathers of Heavy Metal, Ozzy’s career has been like no other. In 1985, as thrash metal continued to make it's way out of the underground, two albums that were released 6 months apart set out to take the world by storm. First, on the west coast, Exodus released their long awaited (by fans!) debut album Bonded by Blood. Similarly, on the east coast, Overkill unleashed their debut Feel the Fire. Way back on Episode #39 during our first year in 2020, we premiered an episode format that went over great with the listeners.  It was the Greatest Hits show. But those first few shows didn’t use the same format for choosing what we think are a band’s greatest hits as we do now. This past weekend, Chris Kaye and Kenneth Dean drove up to Ft. Worth, TX from the outskirts of Houston where they live to go see Iron Maiden in concert. 1987 was the year that the cracks would begin to show in the world of heavy metal and more specifically Glam Metal. But it still had some very good metal music. In 2006 the former member of the Dio era Black Sabbath reunited as Heaven and Hell and recorded 3 new songs to be included in a Black Sabbath Dio Years compilation. That led to a tour and then a full album. The subsequent tour would be Ronnie’s last as he was diagnosed with stomach cancer shortly thereafter and passed away on May 16, 2010. About a year and half later, the original Black Sabbath convened at the famed Whisky A Go-Go to announce they would be reuniting with plans to record a new album and tour. 13 was released in 2013 and their final tour followed.
