Deep Whimsy

Well my wonderful Nieces and nephews, its about time I told you the wonderous tale of Edgar. In the end, you'll have to agree that every dog has his day, even if it wasn't the day you thought it should be.

This battered old hat of mine has sat on my crown for quite a long time. I've even adorned the crown of a few of my nieces with my chapeau, drawing from them the very essences of life, beauty, creation and also using their heads as a convenient place to place my hat when no proper storage is available.  So if you've heard the story before, well I suppose you get to hear it again. Technical notes: the volume for this piece seems to be a little louder than normal. Please adjust based on your listening preferences. Disclaimer: One curse word doesn't make it explicit, but for all those ears out there that can handle a word, you've been warned.

Hello my beloved Nieces and Nephews, its story time with Uncle D once more. Our Storybook bear is a tale of wonder as we look in on the life of toy bear who was fashioned from cloth intended to become a quilt. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

No need to be coy, this is a tale about Koi. Those elegant carp, those over sized goldfish that decorate Japanese gardens and oftentimes the bodies of hipsters who have them tattooed upon their legs or forearms

Welcome back my beloved Nieces and Nephews, Its your Uncle D with another episode of Deep Whimsy. This week we explore the evolution of humankind, the discovery or fire and the role of power and control. Originally entitled "The Food the Fought Back", it questions the role that fire influenced our species as we developed from a lower life form and into something else entirely. A journey of speculative fiction that may just be as likely the truth as any other scientific theory or religious interpretation thereof. Trigger warning: this may not be suitable for weak minded people who can not fathom any idea beyond there own as it applies to early history of the evolution of the human race.

Martha was written for two wonderful children who filled my life with joy, heartbreak, and hope. Its one example of the many stories I extemporaneously created at bedtimes for my many nieces and nephews, I never had my own kids but I've raised everyone else's. Martha is a quirky retelling of that classic Fairy Tale, "Jack and the Beanstalk", specifically from the cow's perspective. TRIGGER WARNING: DUDE, SERIOUSLY IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED YOU MAY WANT TO NOT LISTEN TO THIS STORY THAT DELIGHTS CHILDREN. NEVER FORGET THAT CHILDREN ARE CRUEL AND HEARTLESS GOBLINS! Hello again my wonderful Nieces and Nephews! Learning to Pray was originally entitled "My Giant" but I didn't want people to confuse it with that Billy Crystal movie from the 90's. they have nothing in common, but I thought you'd like to know that bit of trivia. Unlike many stories you will find on Deep Whimsy, this tale is a very serious piece, it is my own coming of age story and a very interesting exploration of spirituality and bad habits that have a deeper truth. Please excuse the odd sounding portion towards the end of the story as when I went to edit I discovered there was a missing portion of the story that had to be added in without the convenience of a recording studio.

Did and Done is my take on a classic "Faery Tale" story that I have been telling to my multitude of nieces and nephews for over 20 years.  It has strong roots in Celtic lore and legends, but told through an animistic expression that renders the timeless qualities of a well loved story. This podcast is a little scratchy in recording quality, and for that I do humbly apologize.

Sometimes your heart can just get in the way... but where would we be, or even who would we be without it? A simple moment caught in words to stir your emotions and perhaps even your regrets. Nary a foul word in the story, but the content could be considered racy.

Everyone has Opinions and As*... never mind, I'm sure you've heard that axiom by now. Well my darling nieces and nephews, this is just a simple observation that I hold true and dear to my heart, and maybe you can get behind it... and then again maybe you can't. Either way, here it is. I have a mild case of selective Tourettes, so if your ears are easily chaffed perhaps you ought to wait until the next episode... then again maybe not.

Hello my many Nieces and Nephews, its your Uncle D bringing you stories that you've probably never heard before, and if you have please dont ruin it for the rest of them... let them hear it for themselves. This is a true story from my youth that I entitled "Innocent Fornication." I hope you enjoy it. The subject matter is rather innocent, it says so in the name, but my language can be a bit salty at times.
