[dpr_xs_podcast_130_kiyotaki] The final podcast of this year was mixed by someone whose presence on Soundcloud offers little information beyond the music they publish. It may come as no surprise that we feel quite comfortable with this kind of online appearance, one that places the music rather than the person behind it at the forefront. For that reason, we’ll limit ourselves here to describing what we heard during our research: 水 demonstrates—both in numerous original productions and in mixes—that genre boundaries, even if there is a clear penchant for jungle and drumfunk, seem to play no central role. And so you’ll find a wide variety of drum-driven tracks and mixes alongside some great autonomic and ambient releases, with the connecting element appearing to be a tendency toward the atmospheric. After learning to play the piano and already building her own music compositions in her young years, she graduated her musicology study and is now a professional multi genre artist. If you catch her playing at club night, she leads you on a journey through her favorite vinyl selections, spanning from techno and 90s trance to breaks and bass music. And with the first rays of dawn she creates some slow morning ambient spirit for the dancer's dream preparation. [dpr_xs_podcast_126_mʊdʌki] Our 126th episode comes from @mudaki, who we first discovered last year, when she was playing a driving and diverse mix, full of breaks and a serious dubstep part, at a techno party we were attending. This diversity in sound is what we also heard when we listened through her musical output, which ranges from field recordings, ambient and electronic experiments over techno and trance to bass music in all its facets. Besides being a music producer and sound designer, she is also part of the @phononcrew, which is „focused on experimental electronic music, sound art and contemporary electroacoustic music mediated through events, releases, workshops & research“.
