I spent the first 10 or 11 years of my duck hunting career being particularly bad at duck hunting but never giving up. I wanted to share an episode of some of the things that I learned the hard way in case others are struggling in the same way. Hopefully these tips can help some other hunters as I talk about shooting slumps, hunting the right areas for ducks, scouting and more. This episode breaks down our annual River Rat Rendezvous trip and I am joined by Trevor Randles of Trevor Randles Outdoors Iowa. This episode was a little different as I was trying to record on location on the river bank so the audio quality suffered a bit due to windnoise in that portion of the episode.I also announce my new affiliation with Railblaza. I turkey hunted for the first time when I was 15 years old. Last year, I killed my first gobbler - at 33 years old. I didn't hunt every one of those years but I hunted a lot and for a long time, I wasn't even close to getting a turkey. I thought it would be interesting to do a solo episode relaying some of the top reasons I was so unsuccessful for so long at getting a turkey. I talk about how hunting turkeys is different than hunting deer, comical turkey mishap stories, importance of scouting and much more!
