I am often asked about the best retirement plans out there for entrepreneurs and sole proprietors. There are a lot of choices and depending on your circumstances, one may be more appropriate than another. That's why on this episode we're glad to welcome back Michael Goodman for a little small business bootcamp! As the president of Wealthstream Advisors in New York City, Michael knows firsthand what it's like to run a small business. We'll touch on a variety of topics, including which retirement plan is the best choice for your situation. Among the options discussed: Individual Retirement Account (IRA): You can choose a traditional IRA, where you pay taxes in the future or a Roth, where you pay taxes today. Simplified Employee Pension (SEP-IRA): This is a good option for those who have up to 25 employees and want to offer a retirement benefit that is easy to operate. Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees (SIMPLE IRA Plan): SIMPLE plans were aimed at slightly larger small business owners (usually up to 100 employees), who wanted to provide employees a way to save for retirement. Solo 401(k) plan: Alternatively referred to as an “individual 401(k)” or “uni-401(k),” this plan is geared to small business owners who have no employees (other than a spouse) and have the capacity to sock away a lot of dough. If you've been following me for any amount of time, you know thatRehab Time is not what I envisioned I'd be doing with my life. This bonus episode is part of the Small Business Podference presented by Dell Technologies. As small business owners themselves, Emma and Julie wanted to put this topic in the context of their usual content: pop culture. In doing so, they examined how organic celebrity endorsements impact small businesses. They started with a discussion of some instances they’ve noticed themselves, and then got the chance to speak with three small business owners who have been directly impacted by these natural celebrity shoutouts. First, they spoke with Sarah Panko, CEO and co-founder of eco-friendly cleaning brand, Blueland. In addition to being a Shark Tank success story, Blueland was notoriously (and organically!) tweeted about by Kim Kardashian West. They spoke to Sarah about the moment she saw that tweet, and the sales increase that transpired as a result of it. They also spoke with Merri Glecker, CEO & Owner of Kashwere - a lifestyle brand very close to Emma’s heart - about the boost experienced by being featured on Oprah’s favorite things. She recounted the phone call from Oprah, and what transpired in the following months. Lastly, they spoke with Jordan Nathan, Founder & CEO of Caraway Home, about his line of chemical free cookware and how influencer marketing has played into his business. *None of these small businesses paid to be included. They were all thoughtfully selected by Emma and Julie, based on their own fondness for and interest in the products.* To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
