Description

Offering a blend of sarcasm, snarky commentary and genuine discussion, Devour the Podcast brings horror fans/critics Vanessa, Jaime, and Bo together once a month to dissect, discuss, debate and spiral out of control into the wonderful world of tangents that often have nothing to do with the original topic being discussed. Are you looking for horror news? Well we've got it, as we tackle a slew of news topics every month, discussing, poking of and ranting about all the interesting stories we can find. The Wheel of Devour provides listener-requested movie reviews, rating each film on a 0-5 scale (0=Avoid at all cost, 5=Must Watch) and sacrificing our precious time and brain cells on some of the worst crimes committed against cinema. Occasionally we find something good too! Our Feature Presentation segment features a film we feel deserves a more in depth discussion, synopsizing the film, our general thoughts and our rating of the film.. Devour the Podcast is your destination for news, reviews, commentary and sheer madness!

Ah, February. The shortest month of the year. Which is sort of a slap in the face to fans of love. Yes, this month that boasts the one holiday every year dedicated to romance seems like a perfect time to look at some of the weird relationships in the world of horror. There’s kinky power plays, jealous lovers and, yes, mermaids.  Let’s begin 2019 with the most ambitious thing we’ve ever done on Devour the Podcast. We take a look at The Blair Witch Project, its sequels, the books (there were some), the comics (true), and the mockumentaries that helped propel this series into the popular culture. Using a blend of narration, film clips and discussion, we work our way through the entire series in a comprehensive look at all things witchy in Burkittsville. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Welcome back to Hero Hero Ghost Show! We have a great one this time around. Mike Marryman is here to talk Hideo Nakata’s Dark Water. Here we are, together on a brand new adventure. Once a month, we at Devour will invite you to our aural theater, a trip through a movie that has reached classic status, whether it deserves it or not. Two decades have passed since our first film was released, and I am admittedly in the tank for Phantoms. Join me as we let the film unfold before our ears and have a little fun along the way. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Happy Thanksgiving! We’re in the doldrums between Halloween and Christmas and that means we’re talking dressing options and side dishes before diving into the horror. We rank the nature run amok films Orca, Grizzly, Prophecy, The Birds, Kingdom of the Spiders and Day of the Animals from best to worst, then talk some new viewings. After that, it’s a look at the unsettling Killing of a Sacred Deer as the listener requested film and Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake.Killing of a Sacred Deer:Vanessa – 4Jamie – 5Bo – 4.5 Suspiria (2018)Vanessa – 4.5Jamie – 5Bo – 3.5 Intro and Ranking: 00:00 – 43:32News and Ask DTP: 44:00 – 2:02:00Killing of a Sacred Deer: 2:03:00 – 2:26:00Suspiria: 2:26:00 – 3:01:20End: 3:02:34 – close Check back next week for more Devour goodness!  ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Another round of reviews is here!  With Halloween in the rearview, time to turn our attention to Thanksgiving and all that entails… Jell-o molds, your racist aunt, and travel. With that in mind, we have a bevy of reviews, most of which are based around the idea of airborne horror. We also ask the question, why do we do this to ourselves? And why keep referring to ourselves with the royal “we?” Watch If You Dare – 2Death Race: Beyond Anarchy – 2The Night Eats the World – 3Altitude – 1.5Flight 666 – 2Flight of the Living Dead – 37500 – 1.5 See you next week with a full-blown episode of Devour the Podcast!   ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

We may only do it once a month, but we come big and loud! We are digging into the latest in the long-running Puppet Master franchise, Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich and debate the efficacy of killer puppets, Nazi villains and more! Before we tackle that nonsense, we rank the original Universal monster movies, discuss references to better movies in The Meg and Along Came the Devil, Bo gets infuriated by Zak Bagans and Demon House, and Vanessa gets fancy with a Hammer film festival. Also, we dig into what scares us most in real life, commentaries we’d love to do and so much more with new and Ask DTP. AAAAAaaaannnnddd… we fit in the listener chosen review for He Never Died, in which Henry Rollins is too old for this shit. Welcome to a special episode of Devour the Podcast! Bo and Vanessa put Unfriended: Dark Web in their eyeballs and they want to talk about it. We get into the characters, the problem with being helpful and a sequel idea too good to be true! Now put that thing down and quit playing with other people’s things! It’s here! A brand new episode of Hero Hero Ghost Show has arrived! We welcome Jerry Herring of Kill the Cast and Underwater Kaiju from Outer Space fame to chat about the bananas films, Meatball Machine and Kodoku Meatball Machine. We try to make some sense of the J-splatter silliness and manage to divert into discussions of Sion Sono, Takashi Miike, and the often-uncomfortable relationship with sexuality in Japanese cinema. Also, a trip to the G-Spot with Cort Psyops as we look at Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster! Enough chatting, let’s get to splatting!Opening song: In the Sad Forest by RAINASHClosing song: New Days by Sekai Ichi ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
