Have you ever felt alone being an entrepreneur? Maybe you have a spouse who you wished would be on board with all your ideas, but just doesn’t seem to get it… You are not alone!
This week, I had an honest, and truly inspiring conversation with Jen Myers, (the founder of Homeschool CEO, a global community for entrepreneurs who also homeschool), about her struggles starting a business with her husband, the points where it almost broke her, and how she came out on top by learning some invaluable lessons.
Jen is a wealth of knowledge and has learned how to not only find, but also create a community where you can find support and draw on outside perspectives to help you grow more than you ever thought possible. And the reason she was able to do this? Because of her life experiences, at the time, felt like a failure.

Welcome to another episode of the Fail Forward to Success series! In this episode, I had an amazing conversation with, Colleen Kochannek, the founder of Scrappy Frontier, where we spoke about empowering ways to learn how to embrace failure and use it as a tool instead of a barrier to your success.
Colleen Kochannek is an inspiring woman, who started her first online business after getting laid off from nearly a three-decade-long corporate career when she was almost 50.
She is the founder of Scrappy Frontier, where she helps women from the typewriter generation become successful laptop entrepreneurs. She is on a mission, my friends, to help other women change their lives by starting their own business. And let me tell you, I am inspired!
Colleen and I shared our love for failures, and throughout this conversation, agreed that there is so much more we can learn from failure than we can from success!
So, let’s dig a little deeper, and really understand how our failures are actually a tool to help us find more success in business…
Enjoy!

Welcome to another episode of the Fail Forward to Success series! In this episode I had a very special conversation with multi-talented wife, mom, and entrepreneur, Veronica Romney.
Veronica is a 12-year branding and marketing veteran who combines her brilliant vision with expert execution. She has shared her talents with many influential brands, including Sprint, Marriott, and IMAX. Veronica is the founder of “My Modern Brand”, a branding and marketing education company that helps great people and great companies clarify their brand message, find their unique brand voice, and market themselves authentically.
In today’s conversation, I asked Veronica the standard question: What is one big failure you can share with us, and how did you learn from it?
But this conversation was nowhere near standard…
Veronica and I took a journey through the hardships of creating and managing a company with your spouse, to working to find balance when you naturally have a very driven personality. The central theme throughout everything Veronica shared was learning how to accept, function, and succeed in a space that might often feel out of balance.
Enjoy!

Welcome to a brand new series of the podcast - “Fail Forward to Success”.
This series is all about changing our relationship with failure. Failure can be a really hard word for many people to face, but I think the worst thing we can do is NOT talk about it.
I named the series Fail Forward because that’s actually what failures help you do - they help you move forward and create opportunities to learn.
Today is really special for me because I get to share my amazing conversation with Julie Stoian. If you are not familiar with her, she is a digital marketing expert and coach, and someone I am lucky to call my mentor. Julie is currently making her mark all over the internet. She is the co-founder of several popular online business brands such as, Create Your Laptop Life, Funnel Gorgeous, Digital Insiders, and more…
Julie has inspired 1000s of incoming business owners with the skills and strategies they need to create, build and grow a profitable online business. She has been featured on media outlets like Anderson Live, BBC World Have Your Say, and Rachael Ray, as well as numerous business and marketing podcasts and blogs, such as Content Academy, Boss Moms, GoDaddy Garage Blog, and Funnel Hacker Radio.
In this episode, Julie shares a goldmine of knowledge. Listen in as Julie takes us through some of the most pivotal moments in her professional life that have ended up being some of her best learning and growth opportunities… You’ll want a notepad and pen for this one!

Hello, my friends, welcome to another edition of the Digital Business Breakthrough podcast. Today I want to have a truthful and raw conversation about something a lot of female entrepreneurs struggle with and that my friends, is burnout. I want to talk about it because I have been on both sides. I have been in high-level executive roles that have caused burnout. I have also designed my life in a way where now I feel like I have some really good boundaries in place and I don't suffer from burnout. And I believe that that is a mindset shift that needs to occur. And so today I want to talk a little bit about if you're stuck in that burnout.
Hello, my friends, and welcome to another edition of the Digital Business Breakthrough podcast. Today I am so excited to talk about something I feel like everyone goes through, especially consistently, as you continue to grow and grow a business, and have the life you want. You need to learn how to get out of your own way because honestly, you are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way. Right? I will tell you, if you just get out of the way, amazing things will come to you. And so many of us get stuck in this spiral of maybe we care about what other people think. Maybe we are internalizing everything and we are keeping ourselves small. And we do that. Our brain is designed to protect us, right? So it feels uncomfortable when we want to, when we have big dreams, when we have a big vision, heck even if we have a mediocre vision, if it is outside the realm of what our brain feels is comfort.
It starts giving us a whole bunch of mind drama around it. And then we start sabotaging ourselves, or we let our thoughts run the show instead of owning it, stepping up and taking control, and just getting out of the way. So what does that mean? Well, first of all, I think when we're trying to grow, we have a whole bunch of scarcity mindset, right? We always fear the worst. I think that that is normal for anything, maybe you want to invest in your business, invest in a coach and it is a huge investment for you. I know when I first invested in my first mastermind, I did not have income coming in and I invested in an $18,000 a year mastermind. It was $3,000 down and $1500 a month. And that was scary. And I mean, I could have told myself a bunch of stories as to why I shouldn't do that, but I will tell you that was probably one of the single most important things, was getting a coach and having a mastermind.
And, and I know 100% it helped me grow my business to six figures within a year. And it was the best investment. And I remember saying that to myself, but I could have talked myself out of it and I could have stayed small. I could have played small. And I'm not telling you to do things that are super risky for you. I mean, listen, I've lost millions of dollars before. And so I even, whenever I'm making a big decision, I have to like go through the things like, is this fear controlling me? Is this my past thoughts of things? Or like, if I'm thinking about where I want to go, if I'm focusing on where I want to go and who I want to be? Is this decision in alignment? And so there are so many things that keep us playing small, that create barriers for us, that we don't have success.
And one of those things is limiting beliefs in yourself.
If there is one thing I know for sure it’s that being an entrepreneur is HARRRD but it's also the most rewarding thing ever. Today I want to talk about the waves of entrepreneurship. Where one moment you feel on top of the world and the next moment it feels like a hurricane knocked you off of your feet and the next moment you want to go back and get a job but you smack yourself because you know you are worth more than any job and have a bigger mission to accomplish, motivate yourself and get back on top of the world again and that's just before lunch hahaha.
This is totally normal and you are not alone. It's hard to be an entrepreneur and I think women have an even harder time trying to balance it all and be the leader of your family. Here is the thing, most of us think there is something wrong with us because we are in the never-ending cycle of mom guilt and the ups and downs of running a business.
I think some people fantasize that one day they will get to a spot in their business where everything is rainbows and unicorns but the reality is you will always have crap come up in your business and life. One of my favorite quotes is “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain.” I think we need to remind ourselves that it is a journey and not a destination.
Once you figure all the crap out in your business, it’s time to grow again and that becomes uncomfortable again. We need to learn how to embrace the journey. It’s hard to keep our emotions in check, but once we learn how to do that, things don’t seem that bad anymore.
I want to share a little story with you…When I was in the middle of my real estate company crashing to the ground, it was one of the hardest things I have even been through until years later when my 11-year-old son at the time was hit by a truck and I would say that was the new worst phone call ever - but he made it through it…that’s a whole other story for another time.
Back to the collapse of my business. It was a dark time and I had so many horrible things happen in such a short period of time. We even had someone who had embezzled from us, when confronted, threatened our young family. One of the things that helped me get through that time was music…I am not a country music fan but my hubby sure is and one day a song came on by Rodney Atkins and while this song has nothing to do with business it was describing my feelings at the time perfectly. I listened to that song on repeat daily.
Rodney Atkins “If You're Going Through Hell.” And let me tell you, if you ever find yourself in a spot where you feel like your back is against the wall, go listen to that song.
Anyways, I have found that over the years, continuing to work on my mindset and my emotions has helped me so much.
So here are a few things that have helped me that I wanted to share with you.
#1 So the first thing is surrounding myself with a group of entrepreneurs on the same path as me and having a coach who can slap me back to reality when I get out of line. But seriously, someone who can help me just see things clearly in a moment where I'm letting my mind drama show up - this has been really crucial. And I think that is probably one of the most important things that you can do. I'm in a mastermind. I have a business coach. I have a lot of friends who are successful entrepreneurs. And there's nothing better than that, because at the end of the day, my friends and my family, as much as I love them, don't understand the struggles. And the entrepreneurs really, really do. So that is number one that has been huge for me. Keep reading: https://karacharron.com/riding-the-waves-of-entrepreneurship/
The other night I was watching this documentary on David Foster. For those of you who do not know him, he is a legend of a music producer and behind the names of NUMEROUS music LEGENDS like...Madonna, Celene Dion, Micheal Buble, Josh Groban, and Michael Jackson to name a few…What he said shocked me and I realized this is true for everyone no matter how much money or success you have…

This past year has been massive for me. It’s my first full calendar year out on my own since leaving as an executive to a multi-million dollar digital marketing agency. Boy oh boy, my friends, there has been so much growth, not only for me but the few clients I work with. I want to share with you something that I know helped get me to this level of success and I know it will continue to serve me as I build a seven-figure business.
Everyone, even myself, has faced fear at some point and what is so interesting is according to a 2016 survey, an estimated 34.2 million Americans experience some type of phobia. The most common is the fear of personal failure. WHAAAAAT. If the most common fear is of personal failure then that is something we need to talk about!
I was recently talking with someone who had a hard break-up and this person was a hot mess. They kept saying how much they felt like a failure. Listen now as I share my advice to him, how I rebounded from losing millions of dollars, how I taught my daughter to visit her deceased great-grandmother, and SO MUCH MORE!
Hello my friends, I don’t know how it came up so quickly but the holiday season is in full swing and this year will not be like other years. I wanted to talk about being present for the holidays this year and how to show up differently. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the decorations but more importantly, I LOVEEEEE our traditions. We have traditions we do as an immediate family and traditions we do with our extended family and this year will be different to say the least.
As a busy mom and entrepreneur, I always need to remind myself to slow down around the holidays and soak it all in. In this episode, I cover 3 ways you can show up and be present this year that will make your heart happy.

Well if either is the case today we are going to put that crap to bed so that it doesn’t have a hold on you any longer. Today we are going to redefine the "F" word!
