Dining Table Discworld

We take another brief interlude to take a look at the new Adventures in Ankh-Morpork Discworld Roleplaying game from Modiphius. (Who's name I'm sure I mispronounce every time I say it!) We have a look at the new books, some of the dice and extras that came with the Kickstarter, and talk about who this game is aimed at and should you pick it up!   You can find the Podcast on: Facebook: www.facebook.com/DiningTableDiscworld BlueSky: dtdiscworld.bsky.social E-Mail: [email protected] Our intro and outro music is Beyond Infinity by user BlenderTimer on Pixabay.

The Amazing Maurice (a smart cat) and his Educated Rodents (a clan of smart rats) are planning one last rat-piper con job, but the town of Bad Blintz was a bad place to pick. The smart rats are figuring out how they fit in the world, the smart cat reckons he just wants the money, the stupid-looking kid turns out to have a name, and the Mayor's fanciful daughter has read way too many books. Meanwhile there's something nasty underground, and not just the shady rat fighting ring. We discuss this first Discworld foray into YA and various talking animal books it might be in conversation with. Cohen the Barbarian and the Silver Horde are on a great, last quest, which endangers the Discworld, prompting Ankh-Morpork's first space mission. We discuss this illustrated book, described as a Discworld Fable, which displays the talents of Paul Kidby. Turns out Dave likes Rincewind when he's not running away. Cathy spots a Monty Python reference in an illustration of dragons. The universe is going to end, as soon as the glass clock strikes and it's a race against, well... Time, to either create or destroy it. We discuss how Susan is Death's unwitting loophole, and needs some friends who are grown women. We celebrate the History Monks, possibly an answer to internet pedants. We consider how Pratchett might have built on ideas from a previous book.   You can find the Podcast on: Facebook: www.facebook.com/DiningTableDiscworld BlueSky: dtdiscworld.bsky.social E-Mail: [email protected] Our intro and outro music is Beyond Infinity by user BlenderTimer on Pixabay.

Join us as we discuss The Truth (the Discworld novel, not the concept). A new cast of characters, a fresh viewpoint on the Watch and the explosion of movable type and the Press in Ankh-Morpork. With digressions about our own history with newspapers, printing on the Disc, and how aristocrats running newspapers doesn't feel fantastical.   You can find the Podcast on: Facebook: www.facebook.com/DiningTableDiscworld BlueSky: dtdiscworld.bsky.social E-Mail: [email protected] Our intro and outro music is Beyond Infinity by user BlenderTimer on Pixabay.
