The Washington Commanders made a number of moves this past week, most notably cutting 2024 5th round pick LB Dominique Hampton, whom Amit was high on. A move had to be made after the beatdown that took place against the New England Patriots. We brought in LB Duke Riley in his place. Other additions were CB Antonio Hamilton Sr. and CB Essang Bassey. The Commanders also did an intrasquad scrimmage, splitting the teams into a Burgundy team and Gold team. The Burgundy team was the 1st team offense and 2nd team defense, while the Gold team was the 1st team defense and the 2nd team offense. The Gold team won 14-0, blanking the 1st team offense and Jayden Daniels had a tough day, proving he's human.More notably, Terry McLaurin and Adam Peters were seen talking to one another at practice. Is this something or nothing? Additionally, Charles Robinson went on with Andrew Siciliano and Frank Schwab and dropped some thoughts on the Terry McLaurin situation, along with how the league views Adam Peters. The Commanders host the Cincinnati Bengals on a preseason edition of Monday Night Football. The Washington Commanders are in New England to take on the Patriots for their first football game of the 2025-2026 season. Before we begin the preview, we discuss the joint practice. Who were the big winners? What are the concerns now that the practice is over? Names mentioned include Josh Conerly, Laremy Tunsil, Kain Medrano and Ja'Corey Brooks. The Terry McLaurin contract negotiation continues, and John Keim added an interesting piece of information, saying that the team could end up getting to $28 million a year, but that may not be enough for Terry's camp. Keim went on to say that the team would potentially feel that getting to $28 million would already be over what they were expecting to pay McLaurin. Given that information, Amit gives his final assessment of the situation. KDot maintains this is part of a standard negotiation. The Washington Commanders play the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium later tonight at 7:30pm ET on CBS locally and on NFL Network later on.
