Description

Hello beautiful human. It’s nice to meet you. My name is Jess Irvine, and this is the ‘Divine By Jess Irvine’ podcast. My journey in recovering from a decade struggling with Eating Disorders and Anxiety cracked my heart open wider than ever before and strengthened my connection to the divine love that lives in us all. Through this podcast, I share the lessons in life and love that I am learning in recovery. Lessons that are relevant to us all, no matter what kind of personal journey we find ourselves on. You are a miracle. You are loved. You are enough. You are divine. x

"We weren’t put on this Earth to spend all of our time fixated on our looks and treating our bodies as objects. We have so much love and so many beautiful gifts within us that yearn to be nurtured and shared. If we do spend our time fixated on fixing our bodies, we waste precious time and energy that could have been spent painting, swimming in the ocean, hugging loved ones, going on hikes, napping, dancing, singing, playing, living and loving." "The idea of being kinder to ourselves sounds beautiful. But after spending years or even decades fixated on seeing ourselves as something to fix and change; withholding love when we need it the most; being hard on ourselves...doing the opposite and offering love and compassion to ourselves when we need it the most is hard. Love is natural, but it’s not easy if we’re out of practice, with our guard up, and years of trauma built upon what is natural to us at our core. Love is so much more productive in the way of healing and change and transformation. When love is the bedrock for what we offer ourselves and others, magic and connection and healing ensues." "Extend the same kind of compassion and love to yourself that you would a loved one. Extend the same kind of tender, warm embrace to yourself that you would a loved one. The same kind of empathy and openness and understanding. You deserve compassion. You deserve kindness. You deserve forgiveness. You deserve a big pat on the pack for your resilience, your determination, for doing the best you can with you what you know and where you are at right now and in any moment…past, present and future." "I am remembering a resilience and power that lies deep in my bones…reminding me that life isn’t just unfolding on the bright, sunny days. Life is always unfolding, flourishing and blooming. Even when the flowers are wilting and the sun is hiding behind those vast, dark clouds. It is all apart of our human experience. It is all apart of the fullness of life. "We are all such unique human beings. Varying in shape, size, colour, race, gender, sexual orientation with vastly different personalities, traits, desires and dreams. Sometimes life has bigger plans than the ones we have in place for ourselves. This was a huge learning lesson for me in 2021, as my life took on a different direction to the one I thought it would for the year and beyond. Things don't always work out the way we think they will. And while we don't always get what we want, I believe that everything is unfolding divinely for us to get what we need. Sometimes life just has bigger plans. For more divine musings, head to Facebook or Instagram and use the handle @divinebyji. Trust in the unfolding of life. The universe has your back. Life is happening for you. Everything always works out in the most divine way possible in the end. And in knowing that - trusting in the divine unfolding of it all…perhaps we could enjoy the journey a little more, surrender to the journey a little more, and really tap into the magic and miraculous nature of life. Trust. Enjoy. Show up. Trust a little more. Believe In Ease

Our beliefs shape our reality. After spending so much of my life believing in ‘hustle’ and ‘hard’, I am learning to believe in ease. To lean into the idea of ease. What if it all got to feel more like ease? And flow? And magic? What does ‘ease’ mean to you? I’d love to hear from you! Community & Connection

Community & Connection

2020-05-3121:56

I love my community of beautiful friends, but I haven’t always been connected to others in the way I am now. Once upon a time I lacked community and connection. I felt so disconnected from the world because it felt too vulnerable to share my true self with the world. The decision to embrace and share all of me changed my life and I became blessed with the most beautiful tribe who I cherish and adore. I’ve been thinking a lot about community and connection lately, so today I’m sharing my journey and thoughts on these pillars that have helped me to create a richer, more meaningful life. This week I am talking all about rest and renewal. Admittedly I have been resistant to rest for the majority of my life, and that resistance has become very evident throughout this period of isolation. I used to think I would get left behind or miss out if I stopped to rest, but I am learning that the opposite is actually true. When I stop to rest, I am more in tune with myself, others and the universe. When I trust my body’s divine intelligence, I flow with life and am never “left behind”…always being taken care of and provided for. In this week’s episode, we’re chatting all about Human Design. What is Human Design? And where do we begin in understanding our own ‘human design’? Today I’m going to dive into energy types, the best place to start when it comes to exploring your design. You can find out what your energy type is and view your Human Design chart on mybodygraph.com. You’ll just need your birth time, date and location to access it. And once you find out, let me know what type you are! You can message me on Instagram or Facebook with the handle ‘divinely.jess’ or you can pop me an email at hello.jessirvine@gmail.com. Today's episode is the third and final part in this three part series on the science of happiness, thanks to the incredible Yale course, The Science of Wellbeing (by Laurie Santos and available on Coursera). Today we dive into the concept of better wanting - what kinds of things should we be seeking in the things we already desire? And what kinds of things should we be seeking when it comes to cultivating greater happiness? Things that we may not even realise could be attributed to greater happiness. Then to finish, we'll cover a couple of different strategies we can use to implement these practices and habits into our lives.  You can hit 'subscribe' or 'follow' in Spotify or Apple Podcasts (whatever podcasting app you listen to podcasts on) if you'd like to stay up to date with the latest episodes. A few weeks ago I began studying a course with Yale and Coursera called 'The Science of Wellbeing'. It has been nothing short of fascinating! It's essentially all about the science of happiness...what makes us happy, what doesn't, how our brains are wired relative to happiness, etc. As a result of everything I'm learning, I've found myself adopting new practices to cultivate happiness in my own life. It's been so game changing for me, especially during these times of uncertainty. So this week I am sharing my takeaways from the course, including a couple of the suggested practices from the course. I hope you find all of this information as fascinating as I do! Part two to come next week (there's so much incredible research to dive into).  You can hit 'subscribe' or 'follow' in Spotify or Apple Podcasts (whatever podcasting app you listen to podcasts on) if you'd like to stay up to date with the latest episodes. Hello there gorgeous human! How are you? This week I have been diving into an online course on 'The Science of Wellbeing' and Elizabeth Gilbert's incredible book, 'Eat Pray Love'. Both of those things have got me thinking a lot more about pleasure, joy, enjoyment...what I'm calling 'The Art of Enjoying Life'. Why do we withhold joy and happiness from ourselves? Or just save the most pleasurable things for rainy days (or worse, the last 10-20 years of our lives)? I'm talking all about joy and enjoyment today and what I'm finding to be true for me, the more I explore these (what I am now learning to be) necessities in my life. I hope today's episode is valuable for you. And if it is, let me know! You can find me on Instagram and Facebook (@divinely.jess) or you could even reach out via email (hello.jessirvine@gmail.com). I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with conscious enjoyment, seeking joy and pleasure, etc. I'd also love for you to let me know what you want to hear next! I'd love to know how I can be of greater service to you.
