#67: Emotions, Therapy, and "Inside Out"

Emotions can be confusing and sometimes overwhelming, but understanding them is crucial to personal growth and mental wellbeing. In this episode, I dive into what therapy has taught me about navigating emotions, using one of my all-time favorite movies, Inside Out, as a powerful analogy. Through storytelling and vulnerability, I’ll help guide you through the complexities of feelings and show how you can apply lessons from Inside Out to your own emotional toolkit. We’ll explore how each emotion plays a vital role in our lives, the importance of accepting them, and the strategies I've learned in therapy to manage emotional challenges. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, sadness, or simply looking for better emotional balance, this episode offers a practical and relatable way to approach emotional health. #66 Nic Dowse: Navigating Life with MS

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend Nic Dowse, who I’ve known for the past 8 or 9 years. It’s always a pleasure catching up with Nic, and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring him on the podcast to dive into some pretty heavy yet important topics. Neither of us expected the conversation to take the turns it did, but that’s the beauty of podcasts – you never know where they’ll end up! One of the things I appreciate most about Nic is that I often forget he’s living with multiple sclerosis (MS). In our chat, we unpack what MS is, how it affects him on a daily basis, and some important facts about the condition: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic illness that affects the central nervous system, often leading to symptoms such as fatigue, mobility issues, and problems with balance and coordination. While the cause of MS is unknown, it’s thought to be an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibers. As the conversation evolved, we also touched on a topic that is close to both our hearts – CPR and first aid. Nic shared his personal experiences with these lifesaving skills, and his vulnerability moved me deeply. His openness and willingness to talk about something so personal was truly inspiring. I’m passionate about CPR and first aid training, and hearing Nic’s story reinforced how crucial it is to have these skills. This episode is full of raw, real moments that left me feeling incredibly grateful for Nic’s friendship and perspective. I hope his stories resonate with you as much as they did with me. #64 James Curwood Part 1

In today’s episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with James Curwood, owner and host of the Ignite Talk podcast, in the brand new Collective Space in Traralgon. This conversation was so rich that we decided to split it into two parts! In Part 1, we dive deep into James' dual passions: teaching and podcasting. We explore what drives him to teach and how that ties into his love for storytelling through his podcast. As someone who’s used to being the one asking questions, this episode flips the script, giving James the opportunity to share more about his personal journey and the experiences that led him to build his platform, Ignite Talk. You’ll get an inside look at the motivations, challenges, and triumphs of balancing these two worlds, and how they’ve shaped James into the educator and podcaster he is today. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to juggle teaching and podcasting—or if you’re curious about what inspires someone to speak into a mic week after week—this episode is for you!
