It's Phil's pick this time around and Jay, under the influence of Chew-Z spends far too much time debating the meaning of the word 'stigmata'.  More importantly, what does a Barbie doll like character called Perky Pat have to do with colonies on Mars? There's a lot to unpack in this second go around with a Phillip K. Dick novel and Jay experiences 60 Freuds of stress as he ends up having to reread the book. (Yes stress is measured in Freuds in the Dickensian universe.) If you enjoyed this podcast and have some ideas for books that you'd like us to recommend for each other,  leave us feedback on Facebook or at dogearedandcracked.ca(Faithful listeners will remember that last time I warned that if you don't recommend a book for us, Phil may end up breaking  the spine of Dog-eared and Cracked with yet another Phillip K. Dick recommendation. And look where we are now!)We are also on Twitter now...@dogeared_pod, (at least until Palmer Eldritch...oops I mean Elon Musk's purchase offer goes through and we are forced to pay per tweet). Kidding Elon, and yes we will certainly have you on our next podcast.
Pigeon eggs and puzzles, the guys live vicariously through AJ Jacobs as he spends a year living his day to day according to the bible. Has Jay picked a book that Phil enjoyed reading? Or has Phil taken it a step too far this time as he recklessly reads the book by...wait for it...listening to it!If you enjoyed this podcast and have some ideas for books that you'd like us to recommend for each other,  leave us feedback on Facebook or at dogearedandcracked.ca (Seriously, if you don't recommend a book for us, Phil may end up breaking  the spine of Dog-eared and Cracked with yet another Phillip K. Dick recommendation.) We are also on Twitter now...@dogeared_pod

Picking a book to read that isn't obscure or a hundred years old ?That's right we are taking on Dune this time! Despite all the sand in this book, this podcast is no day at the beach. Tune in to Jay's disappointment when he discovers the book's constant references to spice have nothing to do with the Spice Girls. If you enjoy listening to the podcast and have some ideas for books that you'd like us to recommend for each other,  leave us feedback on Facebook or at dogearedandcracked.caWe are also on Twitter now...@dogeared_pod

Autumn

Autumn, a collection of essays  by Karl Ove Knausgaard, is Jay's pick on this episode. Will the book become Phil's gateway drug to other Knausgaard collections or do Autumn's leaves blow away in the wind of criticism? (That sounded better in my head)And how does Phil manage to bring baseball into the conversation...yet again? If you enjoy listening to the podcast and have some ideas for books that you'd like us to recommend for each other,  leave us feedback on Facebook or at dogearedandcracked.caWe are also on Twitter now...@dogeared_pod

Jay  drags out every philosophy and theology book he owns to try and keep up with Phil on this one. Turns out Knowledge of Angels involves a child raised by wolves, a shipwrecked atheist and  a  Grand Inquisitor.  Spoiler alert, he's not called the Grand Inquisitor because he's a really good listener. If you enjoy listening to the podcast and have some ideas for books that you'd like us to recommend for each other,  leave us feedback on Facebook or at dogearedandcracked.caWe are also on Twitter now...@dogeared_pod
