"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do and liking how you do it." - Maya Angelou When it comes to working towards our goals how we measure the success of our work is an important aspect of it, how else would we know if we have made it? I think I have found the perfect metric for the job and it has to do with whether we like ourselves, what we do and how we do it in the process as Maya put it. Whatever you'd like to achieve in your life, you have to be able to do it from a place of love, out of liking yourself and liking it for you. It may not be fun but you have to at the very least like the process, and the sacrifices you have to make to achieve it. How you do things is also attached to your identity - and no, habits and coping mechanisms you picked up as trauma responses don't count as part of it. Those are development areas, they might influence how you do things but we might want to work them out before they turn into stumbling blocks (if they aren't already). Do you like how you do the things you've set out to, your strategies, preferences or order of getting things done? That makes your work (whatever it is) unique to you and I hope you appreciate it for the diversity and creativity it contributes to the world. Enjoy the episode...  ✨ IG: @dontoverthinkit.podcast

Wisely And Slow...

Wisely And Slow...

2022-02-1514:38

"Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast." - William Shakespeare We explore this saying a bit and look to the benefits of being intentional as well as being fully present in our experiences this year. We should apply our wisdom in figuring out what is important to us and discard all the other dead weight, be it in relationships, our habits or just living in general. Essentialism could help us move faster as we aren't spending time on the irrelevant aspects of our lives, we are able to delegate the use of our times better. Being slow is not about dragging your feet in activity, this is about mindfulness and being aware as we go through life this year. Don't miss out on the fun or the lessons because you're sprinting to the finish line. Rushing hinders you from doing things well, a little patience goes a long way. Remember, you're here for a good time and not a long time. Enjoy... ✨ IG: @dontoverthinkit.podcast

You Reap What You Sow

You Reap What You Sow

2022-02-0820:29

In this episode we investigate the truth behind the saying, 'you reap what you sow'. Beyond the black and white, we look at three cases to consider as we sow; mismatched seeds, unreasonable comparisons and 'sowing in tears'. Mismatched seeds will have us sowing externally for internal fruits for example, working for more success (career, finances) and hoping to reap peace, joy, love, etc and vice versa. Unreasonable comparisons pull us away from tending to our gardens as we are busy comparing seasons, strategies and talents. We  might even make out of character changes all because we are now looking at someone else's harvest. Finally, 'those who sow in tears shall reap joy'. Crying heals and it is a very healthy way to process emotions related to the losses, disappointments and traumas we have suffered and may have not dealt with. As painful as the moment is, if you find yourself in that experience, be encouraged as it is the key to making room for the peace and joy you need in your life so sow (cry) on! Good luck with the year! I hope you reap all you hope (and work) for. Enjoy the episode... ✨ IG: @dontoverthinkit.podcast
