Josh and Owen go on a tangent about being valued at work and how it’s so expensive to live. Other topics include giving autographs to little kids, getting to know athletes and media members for the type of people they are, and Owen’s dismay for Marvel. Josh expresses his dislike for DC and Marvel content because it’s just not his cup of tea. Share it with a friend if you feel inclined, and check out Owen’s verified self on Twitter
An OJ Superfan joins the show to talk about the guy who groaned a Frontier Airline flight attendant and swung on another one while screaming that his dad is worth $2 million…. Other topics include the anticipation of the NFL season, fantasy football, and Owen hating the summer. We brought back the train trip idea while we wait for an in person episode like the rest of you.
Ever had a healthy snack that actually satisfied you? Most of you probably answered “yes”…try Aussie Bites though and you can add another one to that list. We’ve got ourselves an old-fashioned catch-up episode where we did our whole talk about whatever thing. Topics range from the grind of starting out in the sports media industry to Kanye West being late to his own promotion event, and taking walks like an 80-year-old man who just loves nature. Check out Owen’s Twitter and look out for his appearance on ESPN Upstate where he talked about Charlotte sports. In the same breath, please stop saying “on air” when doing a podcast or live streaming. On air refers to radio broadcasts that use radio towers to transmit sound waves. If you podcast or live stream you are NOT on the air.
Josh and Owen are still in two different locations, but this time, they’re in Georgia and Pennsylvania. Both of them talk about their experiences with traveling and share stories from the past week. The conversation builds into possibly taking a cross-country trip to Los Angeles from Charlotte via train because new experiences are awesome. Hotel shower pressure is important and you’d be lying if you didn’t scrape off the leftover soap with a towel. Follow on Twitter
Amber joined the show to talk about the NBA Finals, college football, marijuana in sports and how Sha’Carri Richardson should be able to be in the Olympics. Chris Paul, or CP3, got brought up because his plant-based diet is said to be the reason behind his rejuvenated play at 36 years old. He was the most important signing in the offseason and has been a true leader for the Phoenix Suns, who just won Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks. College football topics included the New York Jets being terrible, the Jaguars being Owen’s dark horse, and his Carolina Panthers needing new uniforms. NFL wise, Justin Fields, first-round pick of the Chicago Bears, will he play in his first year or will the team be extra careful with him? Josh fields questions from Amber about the topic, and then proceeds to drop the mic on a fantasy football note. Britney Spears has been in a conservatorship since 2008 and 13 years later she believes it’s time to get her life back. Her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, along with many other big-name stars have come out and said that she deserves to have control of her life again. What was originally an attempt to help Britney has turned into what seems to be a dictatorship with her dad, who had control over her finances and other life decisions until 2018. At that point, the court appointed an independent conservator to help Spears. The once-global pop star has told the court that she wants to live freely. She wants her boyfriend to drive her around. She wants to have a baby. The internet has embraced these statements and pleas and are Team Britney to say the least. Cody, Josh, and Owen jumped on the mic to talk about the entire situation and expressed their support for Spears. There was also a reference to the show Zoey 101, which featured Jamie Lynn Spears. It also helped Cody transition into being a teenager not only because the show was relatable, but that Jamie Lynn was so attractive and that they were at the coolest high school in the United States: PCA. Cody from The Sky Is Falling Podcast joined the show to talk about what it’s like being involved in the Cubs-White Sox rivalry. He grew up with St. Louis Cardinals fans who scarred his poor little 12-year-old brain. Aside from chirping at Cardinals fans on Twitter, Cody’s hobbies include eating an entire jar of mayonnaise on a live stream because the Cubs swept the Dodgers. He also gives some insight as to what it’s like working in the rich part of Chicago. Paying to go to the beach is a real thing. The show concluded with some real talk about podcasting and how to grow shows from the ground up with no marketing budget. Cody explained how he may do things to grow shows and even threw in a free tip that he got from a successful podcaster that he knows. Hint: he’s dating Lauren DIY. Yes, the famous YouTuber who dated Alex Wasabi. Check out our extra episode about the conservatorship that has plagued Britney Spears’ life. Chris Brown hit another woman and Owen can’t understand what’s wrong with him. A prime Rihanna is literally untouchable even if she smacked you first. Welcome to the show! Becky Hammon deserves the Portland coaching job but Spurs fans want her to stay. Owen is trying to get J Cole tickets but he can’t decide whether or not to go to Atlanta to see him or at a smaller venue. Bop or Flop made us tumble into a conversation about TikTok helping songs become way more popular than anticipated. Megan thee Stallion and Cardi B are hated by Owen cause of their sound effects, but they’re also their trademark. Dating celebrities also came up because why not. Spoiler alert: Neither one of us could do it. And finally, the Hornets have the 11th overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, which is so fitting for Charlotte sports. Hope you enjoyed this cluster of an episode. Tell your friends. That’s how we grow!
Owen and Josh welcome professional comedian, actor, and dad Joe Kilgallon to the show to talk about all things Hollywood, comedy, and famous people who became apart of his everyday life. You can find links to his content at the end of the show notes. The conversation got started with Owen asking Joe if he cried when his kids were born. This was a topic in Joe’s stand up special, and he explains that although he didn’t cry, he has noticed changes in his approach to comedy and life in general. Crying during movies happens now! The guys also talked about Kilgallon’s experiences at The Laugh Factory in Chicago and Hollywood, where he texted a fellow comedian to stall for him so he could get his shot, which allowed him to go viral and allow the world to see how talented he was. While he was living in Los Angeles, Kilgallon worked as a producer on the MTV show Ridiculousness. He talked about his daily workflow while on the show, which followed his time with Daniel Tosh on Tosh.0. Additionally, Vince Vaughn was his boss…no big deal. He also talked about times where he was in awe at some of the beauty that exists in LA. Two names being Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Aniston. Despite those instances, Joe said that those A-List celebs became an everyday thing and he was never really star struck meeting them. It just wasn’t a big deal. Okay, the laser tag match against Vince Vaughn was, though. Owen and Josh asked Joe about his comedic approach to jokes, stand up, and how he handles hecklers. They discussed times he failed, and times he absolutely crushed his sets. An action-packed show to say the least that will leave you skipping your ab workout for the day. A big thank you to Joe Kilgallon for taking time to talk with us. The main topic was chick flicks that we watch and don’t care who knows it. Little People, Big World, House Hunters, and Big Brother were the headliners. Other shows that got brought up were You on Netflix, 90 Day Fiance, Lucifer, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. The guys also brought up the OG MTV shows like Parental Control, Date My Mom, and Catfish. Owen thinks that MTV may be giving up though because Ridiculousness plays about every hour of the day. For the record, it’s not Rob Dyrdek’s best work. Rob & Big and Fantasy Factory were so much better. Owen talked about Wife Swap and The Nanny, which made Josh remember his crush for said nanny. New Girl, which is one of Josh’s favorite shows, came up and triggered Owen to say that Jake Johnson is on his list of actors to have on the podcast. Josh said he’d text him because everyone in Chicago has each other’s numbers. Bop or Flop: Danny California by Red Hot Chili Peppers. After giving their answers, the guys talked about how if people listen to music and don’t sing along to the words, they may be psychotic. Trends include the viral TikTok that saw a 17-year-old girl push a grown bear while protecting her dogs. While she said it was a normal thing because she lived in the mountains, it definitely wasn’t normal to OJ. A post office worker in Alaska took it upon himself to pay for the extra postage on wedding invitations that were sitting at the office for a bit. He had to make sure they got sent out on time. Nigeria decided to shut down Twitter in their country because people’s actions on the platform were beginning to threaten the Nigerian government. The guys think that the US could actually use a social media break. Other points of the show include when Owen almost hit a pair of horses on his drive home from work, Owen’s “baby momma” may be coming on the show, and the guys’ fear of spiders and snakes gets exposed. In episode 43, which Josh and Owen recorded before Memorial Day weekend, the guys cover numerous topics throughout the show. The audio begins with a quick conversation about Apple’s dominance and whether they’ll ever go out of business? Quick answer: Probably not. With the problem-solution method of doing business, Apple has a way of continuing to innovate and ease the stress of new technology for its consumers. Bop or Flop features a song by Logic that sparked a conversation about the rapper’s evolved music since his divorce. Owen brought up how his older music is some of his favorites, but what he’s released lately hasn’t been appealing. Trends included the Philadelphia steak and seafood restaurant Steak 48 and its $100 minimum per customer. While people were up in arms about the establishment’s decision, Josh thinks that making that a big deal is ridiculous. Owen pulled up their menu and explained that it’s not that hard to spend that kind of money at a high-end eatery. The guys talked about out-of-control fans at NBA games. The guy who dumped popcorn on Russell Westbrook and the guy who more than likely spit at Trae Young should both be banned. The country is opening up finally and we’ve got these animals ruining the fun. Owen brought up the beloved Gorilla that doesn’t seem to get enough recognition for what it went through. The Pittsburgh Pirates got brought up because of Javy Baez’s base running play that made the Pennsylvania ball club look even more foolish than they already are. Could they win games in AAA? Finally, School of Rock actor Kevin Clark passed away in an unfortunate bicycle accident in Chicago recently. Owen wanted to pay homage to one of his remembered stars of the movie. In episode 42, Owen and Josh cover topics like higher education and how to “work the system” at community colleges, not being too judgmental to strangers. Other topics include wearing brands that become deal-breakers, a bop or flop that sparks a mini-debate over female rappers, and harmonization for the ages. Cardi B or Nicki Minaj? We’ll leave that one up to you.
