Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder that occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome 21. It is one of the most common genetic conditions and affects approximately 1 in every 800-1000 live births. People with Down Syndrome often have intellectual disabilities, physical and facial abnormalities, and an increased risk of developing certain medical conditions such as heart defects, hearing loss, and thyroid problems.
