Title: Kind of Blue
Subtitle: A Political Memoir
Author: Ken Clarke
Narrator: Ken Clarke
Format: Unabridged
Length: 23 hrs and 29 mins
Language: English
Release date: 10-20-16
Publisher: Macmillan Digital Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 3 votes
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Ken Clarke needs no introduction. One of the genuine 'Big Beasts' of the political scene, during his 46 years as the Member of Parliament for Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire he has been at the very heart of government under three prime ministers. He is a political obsessive with a personal hinterland, as well known as a Tory Wet with Europhile views as for his love of cricket, Nottingham Forest Football Club and jazz.
In Kind of Blue, Clarke charts his remarkable progress from working-class scholarship boy in Nottinghamshire to high political office and the upper echelons of both his party and of government. But Clarke is not a straightforward Conservative politician. His position on the left of the party, often led Margaret Thatcher to question his true blue credentials and his passionate commitment to the European project, has led many fellow Conservatives to regard him with suspicion - and cost him the leadership on no less than three occasions.
Clarke has had a ringside seat in British politics for four decades, and his trenchant observations and candid account of life both in and out of government will enthrall listeners of all political persuasions. Vivid, witty and forthright, and taking its title not only from his politics but from his beloved Miles Davis, Kind of Blue is political memoir at its very best.

Title: The American Presidency: A Very Short Introduction
Author: Charles O. Jones
Narrator: Kevin Young
Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 20 mins
Language: English
Release date: 11-07-13
Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 2 votes
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Presidential authority Charles O. Jones provides a marvelously concise survey of the American presidency thats packed with surprising observations about the way assertive leaders enhanced presidential power and how such factors as philosophy, relations with Congress, and outside events have all influenced presidential authority. He also sheds light on the political process of selecting presidents, from the days of the deadlocked conventions to the rise of the primary system after World War II.
Editorial Reviews:
Kevin Youngs avuncular, plainspoken performance pairs well with Charles O. Jones understated prose in The American Presidency: A Very Short Introduction.
Written in 2007, when the expansion of presidential power first started being questioned, Jones short volume provides an overview of the highest political office in the United States. The author writes eloquently about the development of the executive branch, and uses historical examples to describe both the presidents powers and limitations.
Young performs Jones commentary in a steady, cascading style, and his mature voice and authority will make listeners feel as though theyre in the seminar room with their favorite professor.

Title: Anarchy
Author: Errico Malatesta
Narrator: Caroline Collins
Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 46 mins
Language: English
Release date: 12-21-17
Publisher: Audioliterature
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
"Anarchy" (1907) is a political classic written by famous anarchist Errico Malatesta.
"Anarchy is a word which comes from the Greek, and signifies, strictly speaking, without government: the state of a people without any constituted authority. Before such an organization had begun to be considered possible and desirable by a whole class of thinkers, so as to be taken as the aim of a party (which party has now become one of the most important factors in modern social warfare), the word anarchy was taken universally in the sense of disorder and confusion; and it is still adopted in that sense by the ignorant and by adversaries interested in distorting the truth. We shall not enter into philological discussions, for the question is not philological but historical. The common meaning of the word does not misconceive its true etymological signification, but is derived from this meaning, owing to the prejudice that government must be a necessity of the organization of social life."
Errico Malatesta (1853-1932) was an Italian anarchist. He spent much of his life exiled from Italy and in total spent more than ten years in prison.

Title: You Can't Spell America Without Me
Subtitle: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump (A So-Called Parody)
Author: Alec Baldwin, Kurt Andersen
Narrator: Oliver Wyman, Alec Baldwin, Kurt Andersen
Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 57 mins
Language: English
Release date: 11-09-17
Publisher: Random House Audiobooks
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Random House presents the audiobook edition of You Can't Spell America Without Me by Alec Baldwin and Kurt Andersen.
Political satire as deeper truth: Donald Trump's presidential memoir, as recorded by two world-renowned Trump scholars and experts on greatness generally.
"I have the best words, beautiful words, as everybody has been talking and talking about for a long time. Also? The best sentences and, what do you call them, paragraphs. My previous books were great and sold extremely, unbelievably well - even the ones by dishonest, disgusting so-called journalists. But those writers didn't understand Trump, because quite frankly they were major losers. People say if you want it done right you have to do it yourself, even when 'it' is a 'memoir'. So every word of this book was written by me, using a special advanced word processing system during the many, many nights I've been forced to stay alone in the White House - only me, just me, trust me, nobody helped. And it's all 100 percent true, so true - people are already saying it may be the truest book ever published. Enjoy."
Until Donald Trump publishes his account of his entire four or eight or one-and-a-half years in the White House, the definitive chronicle will be You Can't Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President.
He was elected because he was the most frank presidential candidate in history, a man always eager to tell the unvarnished truth about others' flaws as well as his own excellence. Now that refreshingly compulsive un-PC candor is applied to his time as leader of the free world. The mind-boggling private encounters with world leaders. The genius backroom strategy sessions with White House advisers. His triumphs over the dishonest news media. The historic, world-changing decisions - many of them secret until now. What he really thinks of Melania and Ivanka and Jared, Donald Jr. and Eric and the other one.

Title: How to Stop Brexit (and Make Britain Great Again)
Author: Nick Clegg
Narrator: Nick Clegg
Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 4 mins
Language: English
Release date: 10-12-17
Publisher: Random House Audiobooks
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Random House presents the audiobook edition of How To Stop Brexit (And Make Britain Great Again), written and read by Nick Clegg.
Keep calm - but do not carry on.
There is nothing remotely inevitable about Brexit - except that it will be deeply damaging if it happens. Extricating Britain from Europe will be the greatest challenge this country has faced since the Second World War. And as negotiations with the EU expose the promises of the Brexit campaign to have been hollow, even some Brexit voters now wish to exercise their democratic right to change their mind, seeing that the most pragmatic option is to...stop. It would certainly be the best thing for Britain.
But how can it be done? Haven't the people spoken?
No. In this indispensable handbook, Nick Clegg categorically debunks the various myths that have been used to force Brexit on Britain, not by the people but by a small, extremely rich, self-serving elite, and explains precisely how this historic mistake can be reversed - and what you can do to make sure that it is.

Title: Review and Analysis of Bryan Caplan's The Myth of the Rational Voter
Subtitle: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies
Author: Summary Shorts
Narrator: Doron Alon
Format: Unabridged
Length: 19 mins
Language: English
Release date: 10-05-17
Publisher: Summary Media Inc
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
In this summary, we will analyze, discuss, and summarize the key points in The Myth of the Rational Voter by Bryan Caplan.
Most people would agree that democracy is broken yet we all know that it is the best governmental system we have. Despite it being the best system, we are facing an unprecedented crisis. Unemployment is high, most economies are stagnating, and yet everything the governments are trying to do to save the economy is failing to deliver. The reason they are failing is due to the process of democracy itself.
In Bryan Caplan's book, The Myth of the Rational Voter, Bryan goes into some depth about the reasons democracies are suffering and what can be done to fix them.

Title: Trumping Trump
Subtitle: Making Democrats Progressive Again
Author: Bob Filner
Narrator: Ronald Andrew Murphy
Format: Unabridged
Length: 4 hrs and 59 mins
Language: English
Release date: 09-27-17
Publisher: Krish Publishing
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Bob Filner spent considerable time in Congress trying to work a progressive agenda into national legislation. He helped organize the Progressive Caucus in the House during his first term, to gather like-minded progressives into a cohesive force. Although they continued to meet throughout his term in the House, it didn't take long to realize that legislative power is held securely in the hands of the party leadership. The possibility of radical changes in key issues that are important to progressives is bound up in an arcane process--hemmed in by rules and controlled by powerful congressmen who are heavily influenced by persuasive, well-financed special-interest groups.
When the opportunity arose for Filner to come home to San Diego and run for mayor, he jumped at the chance. In 2012, after a hard-fought campaign, he was sworn in as the first Democratic mayor of San Diego in a generation. He came into office with a vision of remaking San Diego into a showplace of progressive innovation. Even though it's the eighth-largest city in America, San Diego still had a provincial view of itself. Armed with a list of one hundred things he wanted to accomplish, Filner set to work. His vision would transform San Diego into a more inclusive city that would provide greater opportunity for every neighborhood. In this book, Filner discusses the work he spent 30 years pursuing, and the work he left undone.

Title: The Patch
Subtitle: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands
Author: Chris Turner
Narrator: Stephen Graybill
Format: Unabridged
Length: 14 hrs and 1 min
Language: English
Release date: 09-19-17
Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc.
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
Best-selling author Chris Turner brings listeners onto the streets of Fort McMurray, showing the myriad ways the oil sands impact our lives and demanding that we ask the question: To both fuel the world and to save it, what do we do about the Patch?
The Patch is the story of Fort McMurray and the oil sands in northern Alberta, the world's second largest proven reserve of oil. But this is no conventional story about the oil business. Rather, it is a portrait of the life cycle of the Patch, showing just how deeply it continues to impact the lives of everyone around the world.
In its heyday, the oil sands represented an industrial triumph and the culmination of a century of innovation, experiment, engineering, policy, and finance. Fort McMurray was a boomtown, the centre of a new gold rush, and the oil sands were reshaping the global energy, political, and financial landscapes.
But in 2008, a new narrative emerged. As financial markets collapsed and the cold, hard, scientific reality of the Patch's effect on the environment became clear, the region turned into a boogeyman and a lightning rod for the global movement combating climate change. Suddenly, the streets of Fort McMurray were the front line of a high-stakes collision between two conflicting worldviews - one of industrial triumph and another of environmental stewardship - each backed by major players on the world stage.
The Patch is a narrative-driven account of this ongoing conflict. It follows a select group of key characters whose experiences in and with the oil sands overlap in concentric narrative arcs. Through this insightful combination of global perspective and on-the-ground action, The Patch will show how the reach of the oil sands extends to all of us. From Fort Mac to the Bakken shale country of North Dakota, from Houston to London, from Saudi Arabia to the shores of Brazil, the whole world is connected in this enterprise. And it demands that we ask the question: What do we do about the Patch?

Et plus je pense aussi que seule une réelle et intime convergence des consciences peut nous éviter de choir dans la fragmentation et l'abîme. Title: Our Revolution
Subtitle: A Future to Believe In
Author: Bernie Sanders
Narrator: Bernie Sanders, Mark Ruffalo
Format: Unabridged
Length: 18 hrs and 34 mins
Language: English
Release date: 06-01-17
Publisher: Profile
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
The unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Our Revolution by Bernie Sanders, read by Bernie Sanders and Mark Ruffalo.
Bernie Sanders stormed international headlines after running an extraordinary campaign for the Democratic primaries that saw over 13 million people turn out to vote for him and changed the global discussion surrounding US politics. But how did a complete unknown and a democratic socialist make such waves?
In Our Revolution, Sanders provides a unique insight into the campaign that galvanized a movement, sharing experiences from the campaign trail and the ideas and strategies that shaped it. Sanders' message resonated with millions. His supporters are young and old, dissatisfied with expanding social inequality, struggling with economic instability and fighting against a political elite that has long ignored them. This global phenomenon is driving movements from Syriza in Greece to Podemos in Spain and the support for Jeremy Corbyn in the UK.
Drawing on decades of experience as an activist and public servant, Sanders outlines his ideas for continuing this revolution. He shows how we can fight for a progressive economic, environmental, racial and social justice agenda that creates jobs, raises wages and protects the planet. Searing in its assessment of the current political and economic situation but hopeful and inspiring in its vision of the future, this book is essential for anyone tired of 'same as usual' politics and looking for a way to change the game.

Title: Campaign
Author: David Breskin
Narrator: David Breskin
Format: Unabridged
Length: 3 hrs and 35 mins
Language: English
Release date: 05-23-17
Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 3 votes
Genres: Nonfiction, Politics
Publisher's Summary:
On February 1, 2016, the date of the Iowa caucus, David Breskin began a project that would carry him through the American presidential election. An ex-journalist, Breskin set out to "cover" this most strange and historic election, under the pressure of a reporter's daily deadline, by writing one poem a day. He created a deliberately awkward, rollickingly restrictive form - seven beats per line, 11 lines per poem - and, noting our preference for the convenience of sound-bite news and junk-food polls over more nutritious fare, called them "7-11s". The result is Campaign, a fierce, prescient, oddly moving and scathingly funny book.
No one is spared (not Ted, not Marco, not Carly, not Hillary nor Bernie nor The Donald, not the Pope nor Scalia nor even Jeb!) as Breskin shines a searching light on the hubris and folly of our would-be leaders. Yet he also captures what is fine about America and Americans, even under siege. "Smashed glass of freedom, a toast / for this sad ballad country / that orphans its immigrants."
Campaign is a record of the election unfolding in real time: its distractions and psychodramas laid bare, its bit-part players of single news cycles recycled, the silliness of its silly season skewered. All the while, the drumbeat of essential issues sounds throughout these 77 beat poems, reminding us what was - and remains - at stake.

Titel: Mutter Blamage und die Brandstifter: Das Versagen der Angela Merkel - warum Deutschland eine echte Alternative braucht
Autor:: Stephan Hebel
Erzähler: Sebastian Pappenberger
Format: Unabridged
Spieldauer: 8 hrs and 13 mins
Sprache: Deutsch
Veröffentlichungsdatum: 04-26-17
Herausgeber: ABOD Verlag
Kategorien: Nonfiction, Politics
