Description

If someone you love is diagnosed with cancer you want them to get the best treatment from the best doctors. In 2013, patients in Michigan thought Farid Fata was that doctor. Between his prestigious education, years of experience and pleasant bedside manner, Fata was everything you could want in a doctor. But he was not who he appeared to be. From Wondery, this is the story of hundreds of patients in Michigan, a doctor, and a poisonous secret.

If a diagnosis so severe as cancer is given to you, always get a second opinion, just to be sure...especially if you feel healthy.

so, people are shocked that the healthcare industry is full of corruption, puts profits above peoples health and safety, and is full of immoral and unethical behavior. I would hate to see what you think when you see what happens in other institutions.

I'm starting to get the sense that this story could be told in 1 hour long episode rather than 5 drawn out episodes to milk the ad money. 2 episodes in and I'm pretty sure I get it: Doctor is bad at doctoring.

And I agree with the host... I don't think Jerry could have stopped Chris. I understand why he feels regret, but he didn't have all the facts at the time and more importantly he didn't have the authority to intervene. Chris Duntsch had powerful people in the medical field looking the other way and even backing him up. They're the ones who should feel guilty.

Chris Duntsch doesn't deserve a friend like Jerry, but I admire Jerry and his huge heart nonetheless. It takes a lot of strength of character to be able to hold a nuanced opinion in such an extreme situation.
