Description

Dreams and Detours is a show about the life we thought we were going to have vs the one we are living. We all have a story. I share mine and I speak to others about following their dreams, or getting derailed entirely. And then getting back up again.

Life is hard and messy and joyful. The choices we make in our 20's and 30's are not always the ones we want to stick with in our 40's or 50's. Inevitably we come to crossroads, more often than not. If we let fear hold us back, the result can be tremendous dissatisfaction. But if we take the leap toward our dreams, well then, the adventure really begins.

My Life: A Plot Twist

My Life: A Plot Twist

In this episode we hear from New York native Daniel Joshua Rubin that life in Hollywood is not all it’s cracked up to be. Expressing his creativity was a principle Daniel was encouraged to do from a young age. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he learned early that if you’re going to do something, do it right! This included having an Orthodox Bar Mitzvah even though his family were not religious. Daniel has been a storyteller for over 30 years, getting his start at Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago, with plays produced in Chicago, NYC and London, before heading to LA where he wrote for popular television series on NBC and WB networks. He has collaborated with award-winning artists, further shaping his craft. In the end, Dan walked away from the glitz of Hollywood and shares why it’s not so glamorous after all and what he's discovered instead. (Re)Ignite Your Fire

Susan Montanaro, host of Dreams & Detours shares her perspective on being who you were meant to be and not letting life bury you. When our fire has been dampened by another or self-sabotage, our lives are often filled with discomfort and dis-ease. We are meant to bloom naturally, and when we don’t allow ourselves that freedom, it’s almost as if we are not fully breathing or living at all. Thanks for listening! Susan Montanaro, host of Dreams & Detours talks about courage, and what that looks like in both our professional and personal space. By being true to ourselves, we dig down into our deepest parts in order to live the life we desire. Being brave can be hard, but the alternative is to betray oneself, and others close to us.
