Kodak, Lejonet, and Gordi face off against strange and unusual undead in order to keep the orb. Kodak and his eldest sister Ursula have an explosive reunion, resulting in a shift in clan dynamics. Our trio of adventurer's hit the road once more, heading towards the Ironback Forest. Gordi learns what shooting stars are, Lejonet discusses his people, and Kodak chows down on some green bacon before running into some very important bears. Note: This session Ash (our DM) mistakenly referred to Kodak's older sister as Ursica. This is incorrect and her correct name is Ursula. We are still recording from home, so our audio isn't perfect. Kodak and Gordi interrogate the assassin, and Lejonet learns more about Ser Aurum's past. While the younger two throw a man off a cliff (with the assistance of Featherfall), Lejonet reads through old letters, learning more about the fate of Queen Idraya the First and the origins of his religion.As we are currently recording from home our audio is a little wonky. Our trio are ambushed separately by assassins at the Windgates, only to easily defeat their foes. After delving deep into the caverns below the Church of the Eternal Flame in Halfway, Lejonet, Kodak, Gordi, and Eshal engage in a terrific battle with a fiendish being made entirely of chains - who wears the faces of deceased loved ones. The battle is difficult, but they prevail, only to find themselves stuck between worlds as the foundations crumble around them. Together with Esharl; Lejonet, Kodak, and Gordi make their way through the burnt husk of a town and delve deeper into the darkness, determined to discover exactly how these fiendish beings have been crossing into the world, and where exactly they came from. After pushing further and further into the unknowns of the underground, they soon discover much more than they bargained for... After a nerve-wracking swim through a submerged cavern, Lejonet, Kodak, and Gordi make it through and emerge on the other side. Upon resurfacing, however, they are immediately set upon by a swarm of the undead without any time to compose themselves. After a rough and very difficult battle, Lejonet is finally and barely able to repel the decomposed masses before succumbing to Death's embrace and they escape through the tunnels. Finally, they emerge back out into the light; relieved to finally be back out above ground after a harrowing journey through the hidden horrors of what lies below. During the night Finellan Firebeard and new party member Gordina discuss their objectives. Excited to make new friends, Gordina can barely wait to wake up Kodak and Lejonet, who are still reeling from the events of the past couple of days.They eventually make their way deeper into the caverns of Cairn Dunloden, where they navigate the dark tunnels. SPOILERS - DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE UNTIL YOU HAVE LISTENED TO EPISODE 9!Immediately sensing that something has gone very wrong, Lejonet rides Midnight at breakneck speed towards the sound of Katya and Mercer Green screaming and doing battle. Kodak is racing along as fast as his bear form can possibly run, having too grown very worried at the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. Despite their desperate efforts, they arrive too late to save Katya and both arrive at the same time to see her and Mercer's lifeless bodies. After futilely attempting to heal and revive their fallen friend, they resolve to bring Katya with them to lay her to rest properly. However, after setting out on Midnight and Onyx to find their wagon, they find themselves being surrounded and swarmed by even more otherworldly demonic beings. They do not even have the chance to draw their weapons before they are attacked and both stabbed in the chest, looking up at a being that should not exist before falling off the edge of reality......And waking up deep underground. Just as our remaining party members looked lost, they were rescued by a group of mountain dwarves including Lejonet's closest and longest friend, Finellan Fireforge. They were nursed back to health and they learn a little about the disturbances the dwarves have been experiences and realize with growing horror that fiendish beings are crossing into the world in greater strength, numbers, and regularity. With heavy hearts, they jointly prepare Katya to be laid to rest and conduct an emotional but heartfelt funeral for her along with Mercer; sharing emotions and sentiment before crafting personal touches to her pyre before sending them both to the next world. Realizing they are still in no state to continue travelling having been brought back from the brink of death, they accept Finellan's offer of temporary hospitality and resolve to continue travelling to Halfway to answer Esharl's increasingly desperate call for help after a few nights of rest and recuperation and use scrolls of sending to inform Ser Aurum and the Chieftain of Kodak's clan of their decisions and the tragic death of their companion. Following the exhausting and overwhelming encounter with a group of knolls that was very nearly fatal to Katya, our campaign continues on their travels towards Avonleigh and Halfway to answer the desperate call that Eshal sent Lejonet during the night. As they skirt alongside the edge of the Ironback Forest; wary of what lurks within, they set up camp next to the remains of a long-abandoned hut and settle into a night of restless sleep. Unfortunately, Katya's past catches up to them and they have been tracked and discovered by an unsavoury group of bandits that seem to have quite the connection to the mysterious mauler...NOTE:Episode 8 is unfortunately permanently lost to the winds due to server issues, however, a full recap will be available on our webpage! Picking up where we left off; our party has managed to vanquish the imp ambush from the last episode and takes the fight to the cultists hidden deep in the ruins' main room. Kodak manages to save one from near-death and stabilize him to bring him back to Ser Aurum's tower for questioning, where things begin to go wrong.
