Halloween is over but it's always in our hearts. This year, Tom and Desmond kept up with their seemingly annual tradition of reviewing the new iteration of the popular found footage anthology series with V/H/S/HALLOWEEN. Then, Des goes solo on a review of entry-level horror film Spirit Halloween: The Movie. Plus, feedback and songs: "When It's Halloween" by Bishop Briggs, "Halloween" by Mastodon, "Chelsea Didn't Come Home Last Night" by Acid Witch, and "Everyday is Halloween" by Ministry. Will and Skyler are back to discuss Urban Legends: Final Cut, a sequel that really doesn't have much to say. However, they still find time to mock the editing in at least one Oscar-winning film, wonder why there are too many characters, and get a little freaked out over a mask that the killer can barely be bothered to wear.

It's our favorite time of year again! We've got two movies that ostensibly feature a countdown to tragedy on Halloween night, but really we're mostly here to talk up Salem tourism with 1993's Hocus Pocus. After that, it's glorious whatthefuckery that only Cannon can bring you with 1990's Rockula, and we wonder where this movie has been all our lives.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
Happy Halloween! This week, we've got vampires, werewolves, and spooky tunes! First up, an interview with Remington Smith, director / writer / producer of LandLord, the film that answers the question "Does a vampire need permission to enter the home that you rent from him?" Then, Des goes solo on a review of Greg Lamberson's werewolf siege film: Frenzy Moon. Songs included: "Dear Slum Landlord..." by Napalm Death, "Let's Lynch the Landlord" by Dead Kennedys, "Hounds of Hades" by Bloody Hammers, and "Halloween" by Unto Others. JD Salinger's son, Admiral Jellico, Otis, and Kolchak all in one moving picture! Is it a meeting of the stars geeks love? No! It's the 1990 Captain America movie. Also: holy hell, it's the 20th anniversary of Earth-2.net: The Show!

This time, Desmond has the pleasure of interviewing some cast and crew from the brand new meta-horror comedy The WeedHacker Massacre: actress Bobbie Grace, writer Ray Spivey, and actor / executive producer Allen Danziger (Jerry from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre). Then, Des goes solo on a review of the brand new documentary about the impact of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on five separate artists: Chain Reactions. Songs included: "Weeds" by Life of Agony, "Get Whacked" by Suicidal Tendencies, "Chain Reaction" by Henry Mancini, and Chainsaw Buffet" by Lordi. Send feedback to: dreadmediapodcast@gmail.com. The 1990s were the center of a new and exciting film movement, one where the major studios didn't have sole discretion as to which movies made it to the public; they all had pretend boutique sub-companies buying independent films from the festival circuit for that. This week, we look at two of those that rode the Sundance gauntlet to a tiny art house theater near you: 1998's Smoke Signals and 1995's Living in Oblivion! Redford tested, Miramax approved!Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
After a shock hiatus, The Brothers Wilson have returned to not only bring you up to speed with their summer, but also to shine their latest spotlight on Jamie Foxx. There are some unfortunate turns of phrase by the hosts when assessing Foxx's Oscar-winning turn in the Ray Charles biopic Ray, then one host waxes lyrical about the moral shades of grey on display within crime thriller Law Abiding Citizen. And, to finish off, the podcast returns to the oeuvre of Quentin Tarantino as Foxx takes on the titular role within Django Unchained. There's a new jingle based upon Ian's insistence that film critics be referred to, whilst Pandy tries to get some new phrases off the ground and into the popular zeitgeist. Also, we head into the next episode with only two films firmly in mind.
This week, in a rage-fueled episode, Desmond and Duane review Property, which features a wealthy landowner stumbling upon a farmer's rebellion. Thankfully, his wife stayed in their fortified armored car. But is she safe there? Then, Des goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Rebellions, Uprisings, and Revolutions in Film and Television. Sing these revolution songs in the streets: "The Nightmare of Being" by At the Gates, "Baring Teeth for Revolt" by Goatwhore, "Uprising" by Muse, and "Maggie's Farm" by Rage Against the Machine. RIP Tomas Lindberg and Robert Redford. Send feedback to: dreadmediapodcast@gmail.com. Follow @DevilDinosaurJr and @dreadmedia on Twitter! Join the Facebook group! William Castle always new that the hoopla surrounding a movie was as big a part of the experience as the movie itself. This time around, we take a look at 1959's The Tingler, a film that introduced the world to the wonders of Percepto that had the added bonus of Vincent Price absolutely dripping with ham. Then, 1993's Matinee! is a loving callback to a simpler time when the looming threat of thermonuclear annihilation could be staved off with monster movies presented by a carnival showman.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
This week, Desmond and Tom review a lesser-known film featuring some very recognizable and talented young actors: Marrowbone. Then, Des had such fun last time, he decided to do another Dread Media Top 5 Films that have Similar Vibes to Marrowbone. Check out some new songs: "Keeping Score" by Friendship Commanders, "Past is Dead" by Bad Religion, "Magic Button" by Collapsing Scenery, and "Nonexistence" by Abigail Williams. This week, our old friend Greg Lamberson returns for his 29th appearance on Dread Media to run down Amazing Fantasy Fest 2025. Check out our preview of the whole nine-plus-day film festival as we wax poetic on strange Polish holidays, fish monsters, and stoner kung fu spaghetti Westerns. And find out why Greg called Des a "sick #@$%." Songs included: "The Amazing Kreskin" by Clutch, "Fantasy" by The Church of the Cosmic Skull, and "Illuminate the Path" by Arch Enemy. We're hopping in our George Pal-approved wayback machine to a time when people made movies that looked and felt an awful lot like older movies. We could just go watch the older movies, but meh. Anyway. First up, we got our Hammer on with 2015's The Love Witch! After that, we stuck around for an 80s post-apocalypse by way of Tom and Jerry cartoons with 2015's Turbo Kid!Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
This week, Desmond and Duane check out the weird French sci fi film Tropic. Then, Des goes solo on a Dread Media Top 5 Films that Have the Similar Vibes to Tropic. This week, an old enemy of Desmond and Tom returns in their review of 2025's The Pope's Exorcist. Songs included: "Bar-B-Q Pope" by Butthole Surfers, "The Exorcist" by The Hellacopters, "Blank Generation" by Richard Hell & The Voidoids, and "Throw Yourself to the Sword" by Die Spitz. The Midnight Mystery Show returns to kick off season four, and sadly we found ourselves paying tribute to Val Kilmer, to whom we said goodbye earlier this year. We opened with 1985's Real Genius, an excellent showcase for Kilmer's considerable comedic skills, and then paid tribute to his vaunted ability to walk away with a movie by covering the single greatest example of this: 1993's Tombstone.Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
This week, Desmond and Duane talk about John and the Hole for so long that it's broken up into two parts. Also, Des goes solo on a spoiler-free review of The Woman in the Yard. Songs included: "Way Down in the Hole" by Tom Waits, "Hole in the Earth" by Deftones, "Don't Protest (Too Much)" by Matt Jencik and Midwife. Send feedback to: dreadmediapodcast@gmail.com. This week, in a classic Roadkill Review, Desmond and his youngest son Davin talk poorly behaved dogs, the frenetic pace of action sequences, and excitement for what's to come on their ride home from watching James Gunn's Superman. Then, Des goes solo on two Dread Media Top 5s. First: a Top 5 Obscure Characters we'd like to see movies for in the new DCU (with fan-casting).
