Last week's tour of Genesis 1-2 searched for explicit evidence of an established patriarchal hierarchy (but came up short). In Genesis 3, life in paradise comes to an end and we observe the results of the first sin. These two lessons set up the over-arching plot of the Bible, and how the Creation, the Fall, and the Movement of Redemption will shape gender roles.
We begin at the beginning. As God crafted all of Creation, including His Image (man and woman), what concepts of humanity were instilled in our DNA? Do we see an explicit model of patriarchy, where the created man exercises authority over the created woman? The first 20+ minutes explores an introduction to Bible.
The introductory lesson for our next series, Imago Dei - a two-part series that tackles the issues surrounding (1) women's roles, and (2) racism. In the context of unity, as seen in Jesus' prayer (John 17), we will tackle a 9-week lesson regarding women's roles in ministry...followed by a 3-week lesson regarding racism.
This is the last lesson in a 3-part series, meant to prepare us for the difficult study to follow (an exploration of women's roles in the family and church). As we talk about "the heart," we also observe the things that can infect it: anger, shame, greed. How might we protect our hearts from these infections?
This is the second lesson in a 3-part series, meant to prepare us for the difficult study to follow (an exploration of women's roles in the family and church). As we talk about "the heart," we also observe the things that can infect it: anger, shame, greed. How might we protect our hearts from these infections?
This is the first lesson in a 3-part series, meant to prepare us for the difficult study to follow (an exploration of women's roles in the family and church). What is "the heart"? What does a person mean when they say, "My heart is heavy," or "My heart is so full of joy,"? We explore this concept, and what it means to surrender the heart to God.
