Authority: What is it good for? Absolutely Something. Part 3.

Howdy ALL!!  Today we bring to a close Benjamin and I's discussion around the points and concepts he brought forward in his essay; "In Defense of the Authoritarian Impulse".    It's been a wild and thought provoking ride.. One that I hope you all have enjoyed as much as I did.    The inspiration for the thumbnail (on the youtube version) came from one of our rabbit trails regarding the inconsistency of law and the misuse of it through institutional corporate capture... aka regulatory capture.    I will apologize in advance for my seeming inability to bring words to bear in this episode as I was pushing through some form of blooming illness... of which I'm still teetering on whether or not I will succumb to it. BUT WE PRESS ON!    As always friends, I hope you enjoyed this. Howdy all! We are continuing forward with the Forney Factor and our discussion regarding Ben's essay. During our talk we traced through the evolution of red lining and how's it's progressed to include whomever isn't deemed "ideal" or acceptable. I found what I believe to the be article mentioned! So enough blathering here, enjoy the show! Not much else to blather on about here, so get to listening! Remember Redlining? Applicable Intersectionality? Eeehhhh... Probably not

Howdy all!    Edmund and I are back, as promised!!  We've decided to break the philosophical ice with a jaunt through the concept of "intersectionality", in an attempt to be semi-topical with our current goings on of today.    We intend to use this as a jumping off point to discuss the concept of race/ethnicity either in our next conversation or another in the nearish future.   Through this conversation, I was actually brought around to the idea of intersectionality having at least SOME positive application, if not in day to day personal application. The idea of data harvesting of individuals along as many points of "individualization" could have some benefit to someone somewhere; but not within the confines of peer to peer interactions.   We had a fun at the expense of the practitioners of Intersectional ideology and we hope you will too!    Don't forget to check out EclecticChitChat.com for all our different podcast platform options! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Authority: What is it good for? Absolutely Something.

Howdy all!    Today I'm embarking upon a NEW ECC miniseries with my friend through the book of faces, Mr. Benjamin Forney!    Mr. Forney is quite the autodidact and has graced me with a couple of essays he has penned on the topic of authority within social hierarchy.    Within this episode we get through roughly one third of his first essay, "In Defense of the Authoritarian Impulse". I have to say, I'm not easily impressed and I do not often find my own mindset and perspective so thoroughly and thoughtfully expressed.    I quite enjoyed our initial foray into his work. This will be a 2 to 3 part venture into his initial essay; after which we will delve into his second one. Which expounds upon the general topic.    I won't reveal much more upon the topic, but I will lead with this quote of his:  "If violence is not solving all of your problems, you aren't using enough of it. Then again, there are often more efficient ways to solve problems, than brute force."   Don't forget to check out our other platforms for listening at our website EclecticChitChat.com!!   ENJOY --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Philosophy, Dogma, and Prophecy

Hello all!    This episode is a bit atypical. This was intended to be regular conversation, with my friend Edmund, without any intent to record.   Thankfully, we decided to record the conversation despite our original intent.    I ended up cutting out aspects of the conversation that referenced podcasting logistics and when we had a few instances of poor latency.   This won't be the last time we see Edmund on ECC. In fact, I'm intending on starting a new round table, that focuses on the more esoteric aspects of our existence.    A welcome break from the literal insanity that is our news cycle/current events.    I hope you all enjoy! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Rapid Fire Roundtable: Cops and Guns!

Howdy all! So we are tryin' a new format for the roundtable!    In an attempt to slim down our penchant to wax ever so eloquently in perhaps overt verbosity... we've instituted some rules... and a TIMER!   I got to put on my "Ringleader" hat and laid down "the law" during this episode.  We took a note from the "Around the Horn" show from ESPN and did timed round-robin style "MY TWO CENTS" commentary with the winner of each round getting an extended segment to expound upon their specific point!   I should probably not have been given power over the buzzer, as I had entirely too much fun cuttin' folks off if they went over their allotted time.    I'll like come back to this to add some links for citation purposes, but I'd like to give it another listen through myself prior to.... Since I didn't get to actively participate in the discussion, my notes were a little shoddy.    For those of you who wish for a spoiler, Rose and Shawn tied as winners for our debut "Rapid Fire Roundtable".   As always, checkout our website at EclecticChitChat.com for our entire listing of podcast platforms. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Bros of a Feather: A Laidback ChitChat

Howdy all!    Yet another June episode that got set back due to life being life.    However, between some slight sickness on his end and impromptu trip that also delayed our roundtable. Life is life... so we decided we'd sit down and just have a chat about that!    I sat down with my friend Zach Simmons, Off Brand Thor to those who know him online.    He's led quite an Eclectic life, and I was quite thankful to get to sit down with him and hear a small bit of his story.    I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did, and if you enjoyed hearing Zach and enjoyed our flow, let us know in the comments!   Might just invite him back to throw his two cents into the roundtable!! Knick Knacks, Paddy Whacks, You Can Even Print a Bone

Howdy all! Welcome to the latest episode of Eclectic ChitChat! Today, I am leading a foray into the world of 3D Printing! Those of you who have been with acquainted with me for a while, know that I had a 3D Printer for a bit and utilized it both industriously and within the hobbyist field... albeit my experience was short lived... More on that within the episode.  So I brought in 2 much more experienced fellows to bring a much broader and established knowledge base onto the scene.   This episode is a nice break from the current events, but I highly suggest giving it a watch because of just how darn helpful the 3D Printing technology is! Long time followers of the podcast will remember my good friend, Conner Neeley from the episode "My Kingdom for a Kalthoff" ( https://youtu.be/4rCHHsKWN04 ). He returns to help share his experience and insight within the arena of real world 3D Printing applications within the "industrial" setting. You'll also recognize our regular Roundtable Co-host, Clifton Jones! Turns out, his professional status is ALL ABOUT 3D Printing and modeling. So between the two of them, LOTS of applicable and easily digestible tips and tricks are touched upon in this episode. We actually get to watch Clifton model a Smoking Pipe within his modeling program, LIVE.  And towards the end, I reveal a custom designed print that Clifton put together, and I actually field tested for him! So stick around to see what it is! The Mysterious Mischievous Musk

Howdy all!    Today we foray into the much discussed topic of Elon Musk and his twitter acquisition.    However, we are not here to add more lauding to the cacophony; but to perhaps inject some caution into the midst of the hate or adulation.   Amongst our discussion from our perspectives we inject our usual commentary about society, culture at large, and our current abysmal political climate. In terms of citations, if you got a question come ask us on our youtube channel and we will gladly provide it! **Correction** Elon Musk challenged Vladimir Putin to 1 v 1 combat, but traded "tweets" with one of his generals during the exchange.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

A look at the Sino side of the Russo-Sino Scenario

Howdy all!    Today, I sat down with an acquaintance of mine, who has kept an eye on US/China relationship for a while now.  We've had several conversations over social media in the past and we decided it was high time to sit down and chew the fat regarding the growing threat that is US corporate engagement with Chinese interests.    The world is being shown a conflict involving Russia, while our real threat is being given a pass for nearly everything we would have condemned a mere decade or so ago.    Nothing the American Way stands for is at all represented by the actions and agendas of our leadership. Nothing resembling principle or ethics drives our nation, only the philosophy of the bottom line.    If you wish to have any of the topics mentioned fact checked, please tag the time stamp and I will provide it for you.    Thank you! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Sometimes, You Just Need Something Extra.

Howdy all!!    Today's episode is a Chitchat with a friend of mine from down in Mexico! Travis joins us today to help broaden our scope of options for workout supplementation.    With this episode, we go over Travis's history and some of his background leading up to his foray into Powerlifting/Body building around the age of 40ish. Having a military background, Travis wasn't unfamiliar with being fit, but heavy lifting and bulking up wasn't integral to his training and particular MOS. Not wanting to hurt himself and leaning towards autodidactic, he commenced researching routines and supplements for himself.    We will be returning early next month for detailed discussion about mechanisms within the biochemical function of a few of those supplements.  Below is his list of supplements, some studies that drew him to their use, and his preferred outlets for purchase.    https://nutricost.com/  https://www.bulksupplements.com/  https://www.thorne.com/products/dp/3-k-complete  https://jarrow.com/products/toco-sorb-60-softgels  https://carlsonlabs.com/vitamin-a-25-000-iu  https://jarrow.com/products/vitamin-d3-125-mcg-5000-iu-100-softgels  https://jarrow.com/products/b-right-100-veggie-caps  https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/magnesium-glycinate-400-mg-120-capsules/vs-3026   Interesting data given modern diets   https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33270945/  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7724102/  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6093191/#:~:text=Oral%20creatine%20administration%20may%20improve,should%20include%20larger%20sample%20sizes --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support

Woe Winding Westward

Hello and welcome to the latest Round Table Episode of Eclectic ChitChat!   Sadly, we are still bereft of Slade's presence, soon he shall make his return.  Regardless, we continue onward!  We have put the aspect of modern dating to rest and pivoted to western (American) society and the degradation thereof. There will be some parallels between both series, due to similar issues being present in each arena.    Our first foray into this concept settled upon the idea of "Lost Personal Responsibility" and the entities and systems partially responsible for it.    We get some tinfoil thrown in at my profession's expense; I personally feel we threaded the needle very well between quackery and objective facts regarding the topic.   NUANCE ATTAINED!!   Studies and Resources Referenced:  https://healthfully.com/obesity-in-america-compared-to-europe-6548778.html  https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/30-reasons-why-sugar-is-bad-for-us/#h-does-sugar-cause-depression-acne-heart-disease-cancer-and-alzheimers  https://www.worstpills.org/  https://www.foodsystemprimer.org/food-production/industrialization-of-agriculture/  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26668237/  https://www.cdc.gov/childrensmentalhealth/data.html  https://www.thecoddling.com/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aaron-bratton/support
